In addition to the Internet, new networks such as home network, ad-hoc network and sensor network are emerging. An easy prediction is the emergence of a new environment in which many sensors, people, and many different kinds of devices coexist, move, and communicate with one another over such heterogeneous networks. Peer-to-peer technology is one of the most important and suitable technologies for such ubiquitous networking since it supports discovery mechanisms, simple one-to-one communication, free and extensible distribution of resources, and distributed search to handle the enormous number of resources. The authors have designed and implemented a peer-to-peer networking platform for realizing applications, which include various applications for mobile phones. This chapter presents their peer-to-peer networking architecture, protocols, and applications for mobile phones.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.4018\/978-1-60566-715-7.ch017","type":"book-chapter","created":{"date-parts":[[2011,5,24]],"date-time":"2011-05-24T17:45:29Z","timestamp":1306259129000},"page":"374-396","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":2,"title":["Peer-to-Peer Networking Platform and Its Applications for Mobile Phones"],"prefix":"10.4018","author":[{"given":"Norihiro","family":"Ishikawa","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"NTT DOCOMO, Japan"}]},{"given":"Hiromitsu","family":"Sumino","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"NTT DOCOMO, Japan"}]},{"given":"Takeshi","family":"Kato","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"NTT DOCOMO, Japan"}]},{"given":"Johan","family":"Hjelm","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Ericsson Research, Japan"}]},{"given":"Shingo","family":"Murakami","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Ericsson Research, Japan"}]},{"given":"Kazuhiro","family":"Kitagawa","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Keio University, Japan"}]},{"given":"Nobuo","family":"Saito","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Komazawa University, Japan"}]}],"member":"2432","container-title":["Mobile Peer-to-Peer Computing for Next Generation Distributed Environments"],"original-title":[],"link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/www.igi-global.com\/viewtitle.aspx?TitleId=26807","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2018,11,19]],"date-time":"2018-11-19T01:46:00Z","timestamp":1542591960000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"http:\/\/services.igi-global.com\/resolvedoi\/resolve.aspx?doi=10.4018\/978-1-60566-715-7.ch017"}},"subtitle":[""],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[null]]},"references-count":0,"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.4018\/978-1-60566-715-7.ch017","relation":{},"subject":[]}}
