Solitaire by MobilityWare+ on Apple Arcade is the classic card game in its purest form, free of ads and in-app purchases.

But, just as it’s been for over two centuries, there’s more to this game than you might think.

What we love: Think solitaire needs to be a solitary pastime? Not so! Challenge other card sharks in asynchronous multiplayer matches. Or go solo with daily challenges that serve tricky deals.

Quick tip: Shuffle the aesthetic! Head to the game’s settings to customise the background, card face and card back with designs ranging from classic fleurs-de-lis to cute kittens.

Meet the creator: MobilityWare has been on the App Store since the very beginning, launching Solitaire and several other games on day one in 2008.

“There were only three or four of us working on the games at the time,” says senior director of ad operations Ed Cisek. “So we all wore many hats – engineer, artist, game designer, QA, marketing…”

Based in Irvine, California, the studio also created fellow Apple Arcade game Sudoku Simple+.
