Dropbox is a great tool for storing files in the cloud and sharing them with others. Learn how to make your data more secure, access files from anywhere and make them available to your collaborators.

Put a PIN in it

One way to protect your Dropbox photos and documents from prying eyes is by adding a PIN lock. Go to your Account page, tap the cogwheel in the top-right corner to turn on the Passcode lock function and your digital assets will be secured behind a unique combination of your choosing.

Save an offline copy

If you use Dropbox, for example, to save important travel itineraries, you’d probably want to keep them accessible 24/7. Tap the three dots next to a file name and toggle on “Make available offline”. This way, you can open the documents even in areas where you don’t have internet.

Documents can be made available to view offline.

Make room for more

Having a copy of your photos and videos offline means you’ll need to set aside some storage space on your device. To see what you have downloaded and how much storage you have taken up, go to Account and tap “Manage offline files” for an overview.

Share your files

Inviting someone to view or edit your Dropbox files is super easy: tap the three dots next to a file name and select Share. You can then choose whether to copy a share link, send the link directly or transfer a copy of the file. Users with a pro subscription can also edit link settings, deciding exactly who can view files and how long a download link should be available for.

Find your backup

Accidentally deleted a file from your Dropbox? Don’t worry. You have 30 days to get it back. To do this, tap Account and use the “Recover deleted files” function to find what you need.
