I love this look. It’s simple and feminine and it perfectly encompasses summer for me. Breezy, softly flowing fabrics, soft colors, good textures… This look is completely modest, but also very sexy. I love when that happens. <33Love, Abra

ps. Skyhawke Sodwind & Sophia Harlow create some beautiful portraits. If you’re looking for a good photographic team, look no further. I was lucky enough to get a sitting with them, and here is the final result. Check their website for more details.

Oh do I? ;) Taking my inspiration from Flutter’s musing, which I’m sure rings true for most people ‘without anything to wear’, I bring multiple outfits which prove once and for all- in public and in writing, that I do have something to wear. Just remind me that when I feign exhaustion from laundry day. haha.  <3

.one. DARK HORSE

Undooz of Shade Throne made the most bombdigginswaggerin’mofo-of-a-necklace ever, and she named it after me! I cannot contain my lust for this necklace. I wanna drench you in gold paint and take your pic-sha baby. My gown is G Field, home of one of the best and largest collections of (awesome) rose inspired clothing that I’ve found. You must have been before, but if you haven’t, please go. Buy some rose shoes to wear with your summer dresses already. I don’t know how often or how much I’ve expressed my love for Fashionably Dead skins, so I will say it here and now: brilliant!!, beautiful!!!, quirky! =D, unique, cute-cute-cute, imaginative, oh-so-flattering, versatile, hand-drawn, well-named goodness. I know you already know that, but I really had to say it out loud. (ps. This is one from the previous collection, which is just as good as the current ones imho. Well done skins will always be stylish.) My shoes are from [KA] Designs and I dug them out of the closet because they are just the heel for this dress- I forgot I had them so it was like Christmas! lol. The ciggie is from Foxy’s Island Smoke Shop, thanks to the fashion bloggers group for helping me find it! (luff u guys <3) This one is a ‘switching’ ciggie, so it appears and hand or mouth on auto rotation. Yes smoking is bad for you, then again if you’re going to do something do it well.

. . .

.two. GONZO

A look that evolved out of another look, I like the way it turned out. There are a lot of different elements in here, different styles. My favorite looks are ones that combine favorite elements into a cocktail shaker, *shake shake* and you’ve made your look. Resident genius curioala Gala Phoenix has just released another “throw my body over the train tracks for just a taste” skin, “June” and like everything she makes, it’s all impeccably crafted details, dreamy/fun/interesting makeup, luminescent, just-that-side-of-dewy perfection. The face is beautiful, a little more mature than my beloved April’s, but related close enough that one can wear it and still feel themselves. Full review to come soon! (I have to show you these makeups! pure elated ecstasy) My dear friend Jeanie has just released new hairs at her store (Posh) and I am really loving them! My favorites are the twin tails, cinderella, richie and this one, ‘kelly after sex.’ The hairs are sculpted, come in 4 colors and, gosh, a lot of styles. I’m so happy to have some in my closet- Jeanie I can’t wait to see what you release next! <33 These BP* pants are my favorite, BettiePage could make a banana peel dress look cute, etherial and playful.

Looking forward to upcoming 69, BP*, Uglydorothy releases. New goodness is highly stimulating! Muah! <3Love, Abra

Postcard from Second Life.

I really fell in love with Sweetaholic’s kimonos after my friend December took me to their store. “You have to see this place!” she said, and the girl doesn’t lie. Sweetaholic’s are some of the prettiest kimonos I’ve seen in SL. Very, very well done. They are dramatic, the textures are rich and eye catching, the colors vibrant and the designs have subtle little twists that add interest. For the men out there, there are many cool designs as well. I was having trouble deciding what I wanted, since the answer was ‘all’ (don’t I wish), until this punk inspired plaid version caught my eye. I was drawn to how different it is, how it twists traditional into something newer and edgy and maybe even a little bizarre.

Instead of wearing a traditional kimono ‘do, which imho would trump the whole punk ideal, I decided to wear Lamb’s new group gift. !lamb is a new hair store which is making big news for it’s cute designs that come with a hat attached. Everyone who has tried to wear a hat in SL knows that it can be a real pain to fit, and it’s just easier to buy hairs with a hat attached. (or is it vice versa?) Well these, you will like, I am sure of it. I think that this hair is so cute it may even win over those that don’t like berets (the way the 69 CSR hair did). Although the beret is not made to be taken off (the hair is mod, fyi) you could always add another in it’s place, if you like.

The skin is AOHARU and I mention it because it was actually one of the first ‘nice’ skins I bought in SL. Since fashion here evolves by the minute, I think this speaks a lot that it’s still one I really adore. It’s the double black/red eyeliner and the soft, glossy transparent-red lips. In RL I’m not at all a lipstick girl, but prefer a good lip stain topped with lipbalm in it’s place. This makeup looks exactly like it and maybe that’s why I’m so fond of it.

I was compelled to add a little cuteness, to keep the look light hearted. The panda theme comes by coincidence, two cute new releases: Pink Fuel’s Pandas and Sanu’s Sushi Love sets. I really love pandas, and even considered getting a panda-hybrid skin although everyone tells me they’re weird. (You’re wrong, btw. Totes cute!) I knew that they would be just the touch to add kiddish interest and I love how Pink Fuel’s Pandas come with tons of different attachment points, as the leg is less common than a shoulder pet. (btw Mochi, I think a Koala bear leg pet would be a fantastic idea, :) just so you know. /me wants one!! ;p)

The J’s boots have been on my mind for a while. Yes, they are not new but they caught my eye the second they were out and I’ve been waiting patiently to wear them in an outfit. I have a thing for thigh-high boots and although they can be completely trashy if done wrong, I think when done right they are cool and add interest to an outfit. I don’t know if I’d wear them IRL, that just might be a little too much, but they are fun here. Some things just cannot be translated into pixels, and others should not be translated out of them. ;) I hope you like this look and thanks for reading. xoxo

One of my favorite things about the blog is being able to tell you about cool new places I’ve stumbled upon. This is the case with ~ Scribble ~. I was in Harajukubox looking for furniture, when I stumbled upon Radio Signals’ super cute little shop. It’s one of those places that make me really excited. There is clear vision, interesting items and everything is done custom and really, really well. After a little shopping I discovered she has a whole sim (!!) dedicated to her vision. It just opened a week ago and is already looking fantastic The whole place is dark, but warm, lots of black and white with bits of color here and there, from her products mostly, with little surprises thrown in. My kind of place!! I had the pleasure of meeting Radio who I instantly adored. She even played some Björk for me while I shopped. (Some people just know how to rub me the right way. ;)

I immediately bought the tiny top hat. (I have this whole mini-collection going, they really do go with everything..) And the laid back hat w/hair. She also has amazing lights, like lamps which plug into and out of the wall with a click, a cute christmas tree with color change festivities, and a dock complete with lighting. If I ever get hitched in SL, it’s going to be on that dock. haha. There’s more to come, including clothing!! Until then, scoop up the yoyo, the slip on shoes, the bloomers, the long socks…I know I have. Explore, take pictures, stop into the cafe and write on the chalk board. (btw, I’ve never seen a chalkboard like this in SL before.) While you’re at it, go upstairs into the next building and check out the amazing Neko ears and tails made by Radio’s friend Philo, they are so cute and really well made and come with cool accessories like piercings. Meow. ~ Scribble ~ is definitely one of my favorite new sims, and I am certain we will be hearing a lot more about Radio and her vision in the future.

Inspired by the scenery, I decided to make a greyscale outfit to photograph on location. How could I pass up a shoot in this sim? It’s gorgeous. Hope you enjoy! xo

Twist of Lime

Twist of Lime | One

There is something about the color chartreuse that makes my mouth water. I just love it. It’s vivid and energizing and I think it’s quite beautiful. In feng shui it’s a lucky color! Just take a tip from my grandma and never wear it near your face. Tones like this do funny things to one’s complexion. Worn away from the face, and wrapped around the waist in a drapey, silky fabric, chartreuse couldn’t look any better. It’s gorgeous. And the drape of this dress is something unique. I love the way it moves. The shape. The contrast. The placement of the layers and the way they angle and poof perfectly. It was love at first sight. And how does it feel on the body? Fantastic!

Another favorite of mine is the lessthanthree skin. I wear these a lot outside the blog and was happy to see it’s a good fit here. They are just so pretty, the lips are smooth, glossy and plump, the eye makeup is refreshingly unique. There’s another makeup I’m dying to build an outfit around, but until then, take a look at the lips on Pomme. I have a thing for pretty, unusual lip makeup and lessthanthree does it well. I also like the name of the store, which is a favorite type of mine “<3.” Get it? :))

Take a look at these limited edition shoes on Rayna’s blog. Aren’t they amazing? I have her to thank for reminding me about them as I had bought some eyes and sunglasses at the store a while back and picked up a demo too. It was buried away in my inventory until I saw this post. It would have killed me to have the demo and not the real thing, because after trying them on I knew that yes, they were just as amazing as their display photo. If you like the shoes you’ll have to scoop them up by Saturday because after that they’re gone forever. The heels are probably one of the prettiest and most unique designs I’ve seen on SL. Get them @ lis_noir. Thanks Rayna for the heads up! <3

xo

ps. I know that most of you know ETD is having a sale until December, but for those who have been away in RL or locked up in a Harry Potter-ish closet…sale…BIG DISCOUNTS…under L$100….go!

pps. Love Magic Nail Salon is closing! Scoop up any nails you’ve been eyeing and pick up a free mani/pedi template to make your own. Available until the 15th, but with all closes, I wouldn’t push it out too far. :))

Gypsy Queen

October 8, 2008

Bohemian Dream

Say the word Bohemian and I get warm tingles up and down my spine. There’s something very magical about the lifestyle, and the fashion that is associated with it. Beautiful fabric prints, lots of flowers, old leather, and a multitude of boots. Sounds a lot like my style actually!

I’ve yet to find many SL stores that make Bohemian clothing, let alone do it well. There are many shops that sell fairy silks, wench outfits, and I’ve seen a few typical gypsy outfits in stores. Though some of these items are close to what I’ve been looking for, none of it is truly authentic. (Even the gypsy outfit, everyone knows real gypsies don’t dress like that!) Most of this clothing is made for the fantasy sims and/or Halloween/costume parties. So I get very excited when I see clothing I can pair with my jeans/boots/coats and wear out in everyday SL living.

The Graduation

The store I think of when I think Bohemian SL is Stitch by Stitch. The owner and artist behind the store, Sevenstar Amat, comes from true gypsy roots and her work is inspired by that of her childhood and the handmade crafts and sewing of her Grandmother. Her clothing is infused with feminine details, beauty and romanticism. I am completely smitten.

Imagine my delight when she kindly provided me with my favorites from her stores, so that I may present them to you. These clothes are so pretty and so fun. And as I always say, fashion should be fun! S by S’s clothing encompasses this idea perfectly.

Roses on her feet

These shoes are a freebie (!!) at Sevenstar’s Tengchong Juicy sim store. (Sorry for the mix up everyone ;)) I suggest you TP there asap and scoop them up, lest you miss them completely. They are gorgeous.

Romance for Autumn

I wouldn’t have considered myself a hat girl until I saw S by S’s Rose beret. It’s a beret covered in roses. (!!)

So I can knit at the drop of a pin

The dressmaker’s hat comes in two colors and it’s details are unbelievable! Knitting needles, bits of ribbons and a thimble poke out of the top and shimmy around when you move. :))

Where the seamstress keeps her pins

I saved my new love for last. It’s hard to choose favorites amongst this grouping, because all of it is so lovely. Though if I had to, I have to say there’s something about this print that makes me completely head over heels. I love the jewel tones, the simple, well-done craft work, the billowy skirt and especially this gorgeous folk style fabric. I would gladly wear this dress while lounging on a pillow swathed in the same fabric, while holding an umbrella made of the same fabric and reading a book covered in this print. I love it that much.

Folk Lore

Do stop by one of Stitch by Stitch’s locations and scoop up some Bohemian Gypsy Loveliness as soon as you can. Clothes like these put an instant smile on a girls face, and you can’t help but skip down the street while whistling to yourself.

Mix it up!

October 4, 2008

Mix it up!

The Kyoot Army top from the last post was too cute to pass on a little mixing. This outfit is cute and a bit tomboy. Very comfy. My boots are adorable, but I’m thinking I want to put a mod size script in them to make them fit my feet better. If that’s even possible..? I’m a fashion writer people! You tell me! :D

When you buy a good piece, experiment with it. I think it’s easy to wear something one way all the time. The beauty is in the odd coupling, for me at least. I love that ‘ah-ha’ moment of discovery when you pair something and it works. I think, for this top, I’ll try to glam it up next.
