Our babies ages 2-5 have been masked long enough. While there are great things happening in the Public Schools here in Illinois and We the People are winning at that level, it seems many have forgotten about Preschoolers and Daycare. 

On August 4, 2021, Governor Pritzker issued Executive Order 2021-181 requiring all day care facilities in Illinois to follow the joint guidance issued by Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and take proactive measures to ensure the safety of children, staff, and visitors, including, but not limited to masking and banning us from entering classrooms. (Illinois Day Care Guidance)

Studies have proven that "a key part of learning to communicate for a child is watching the faces, mouths, and expressions of the people closest to them. Babies and young children study faces intently, so the concern about solid masks covering the face is understandable. tells us young children learn best when they see language and facial expressions." (Do Masks Delay Speech).   Teachers have tried clear masks and found they fog up. While school age parents continue to fight the Public and Private schools it is time we stood up for kids in preschool/childcare settings. This applies to all daycares and preschools in the state of Illinois. It's time we stand up!

For many of us - these mandates are against our Christian values for 2 Corinthians 3:18 calls for us to not veil our faces as we are made in the image of God. 

Most teachers have chosen to be vaccinated - we know the science tell us our kids are not going to get extremely sick from Covid-19 and their rate of transmission is low.  As for deaths in children the American Academy of Pediatrics reports that in states reporting, 0.00%-0.03% of all child COVID-19 cases resulted in death AND among states reporting, children were 0.00%-0.25% of all COVID-19 deaths, and 7 states reported zero child deaths. 

No laws have been passed and recent Illinois case law has ruled that masking is part of quarantine which can only legally be done with a court order. (Judge Says Masks Can't Be Required Without Official Quarantine Order)

The latest CDC and IDHP guidelines are recommendations - not laws.  As a community based on reason, logic, and facts, we need to take all of those together as our children depend on us.

We the People Demand Mask Choice.  As parents, grandparents, friends and more we demand that Gov. Pritzker, IDPH and DCFS:

1) STOP FORCING OUR CHILDREN TO WEAR A MASK - Allow parents and our teachers to make the choice that is best for them.  We know this is how children this young learn speech, reading and emotion. Parents should choose to mask or not. Teachers should choose to mask themselves or not-with that if a teacher chooses to mask we should allow only shields so the children can develop appropriately.

2) STOP KEEPING US OUT OF OUR CHILDREN'S CLASSROOMS - Parents should be allowed back in the classrooms. Parent participation in school at a young age sets the stage for parents and kids and allows parents to ensure a safe place for their child. We want to see what the rooms look like, what they are working on and their friends like we used to as well as have class parties to get to know other parents. 

3) STOP WORRYING ABOUT MASKING OUR HEALTHY KIDS - Start focusing your time and energy on children in this state that really need family services.  There are plenty of children in need in this state.
