HOT BUCKY SUMMER IS BACK!

This event runs from June 1st, 2025 to August, 30, 2025. Masterlists (optional) are due by August 31st. Each week starting June 1st, we’ve given you a theme (phrase) and three (or more) prompts to spark your imagination. You do not have to strictly include the exact phrase or prompt words in your works - they are meant to encourage you and inspire your overall idea! Interpret them as you wish.

📢 RULES/FAQs

  1. Tag accordingly, please! General blog rules apply to this, please read before participating. This event is 18+ due to the nature of the prompts.
  2. There is no minimum or maximum limit.
  3. We will not be reblogging works outside of the assigned week (ex: if you fill a week 1 prompt but we are already in July, we will not be reglogging), however, these prompts are meant to inspire your muses and you can use them as you desire.
  4. Your works do not have to be inherently M or E rated to participate, they are up to your interpretation.
  5.  There is no limit on how many works you create. You can create multiple works for one prompt/week, participate in only week, or create a multi-chapter fic to combine different weeks/prompts. We encourage and welcome all participants!
  6. TAG ACCORDINGLY!
  7. Any and all forms of creation are welcomed!

📢 HOW TO SHARE YOUR WORKS:

Please mention us (@buckybarnesevents) and use the tag #hotbuckysummer2025 in your post for us to reblog your works!

We MUST be able to clearly identify what week/prompt you are using. Again, we will not be reblogging works outside of the assigned week. If we cannot easily tell what prompt you are using when tagged, we will not be reblogging.

You can also tag us again in your masterpost for us to reblog a summary of your works for this event.

⏩ Ao3 Collection: HotBuckySummer2025 ⏩ Discord: https://discord.gg/buckybarnesevents (Great place to promote, and feel free to join for a friendly community to hang with even outside of events!) ⏩Previous Works: Event Archive

For a word version (enabling copy and paste), please see below the cut.

Happy creating!

calling progressive activists on tumblr!

We at @fandomtrumpshate are relaunching our action blog, which aims to help people get involved in progressive causes in practical, concrete ways. We've got thousands of fans who have been raising money for a host of progressive causes over the past eight years, and we know that many of these fans would like to go beyond fundraising to start doing some of the work themselves.

Making that leap can be hard, though, which is why we'd like to offer some examples. We're hoping to share stories -- your stories -- about how you got involved in activism and what it means to you.

If you're willing to share your story, please make a post that answers these questions (or some of them; no need to answer all of them!) and tag us -- @fthaction -- and we'll reblog it.

  1. when did you first get involved in activist/community work, and what motivated you to do it?
  2. how did you get started? how did you find your niche?
  3. what was something you struggled with early in your activist work, and how did you learn to manage/overcome it?
  4. what's a setback you've faced, and how did you make it through?
  5. what is the thing you're most proud of?
  6. what are the unexpected joys or benefits that activist work has brought into your life?
  7. what's the one thing you really want to say to people who are thinking of getting involved?

Unlisted Fandoms Challenge

While we pull together the post on the various types of fan labor being offered so far, here's a quick update on the *hundreds* of write-in fandoms we've received ...

At the top of the list we have Jeff Satur holding onto the lead with 7 entries, but Zhen Hun/Guardian is right on his heels with 6. And then there's a three-way tie for third place with 5 write-ins each for BBC Ghosts, Control (Remedy Game), and Dungeon Meshi / Delicious In Dungeon. Schitt's Creek claims fourth place with 4 entries, and in fifth there's a 14-way tie:

Alien Stage Cabin Pressure Dungeons and Daddies (Podcast) Fire Emblem Awakening Fire Emblem Fates Iron Widow Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint Roswell New Mexico Stand By Me/The Body by Stephen King The Goblin Emperor Series - Katherine Addison Transformers Voltron: Legendary Defender White Collar Zhen Hun / Guardian (drama) RPF

All it would take to upset the apple cart and reset the leader board is one signup. Manage two and it's a whole new ball game. Yes, we're mixing metaphors. And we're not done yet!

Below the cut are the 133 fandoms that have so far received only ONE signup. Want to really shake things up? Get two more signups for any of these and watch them leap into the fray on the leader board ...

By the Numbers: halfway through the signup window edition!

That's right, signups for FTH 2025 have been open for a week, and what a week it has been! In 7 days we've had MORE signups than we did when we closed signups in 2024 … but not quite as many as we had after we re-opened for 4 hours to see whether or not we could crack that 1000 signup barrier.

We expected a big year, and you're definitely delivering!

So, what are the actual numbers?

756 creators have signed up to offer 1020 auctions in 117 listed fandoms and 214 write-in fandoms. And there's a WEEK to go!

A couple of quick breakdowns on the offers we have so far:

Types of written fanwork:

660 fan fiction (new) 170 fan fiction (remix of an existing fic) 36 meta/analysis 32 fan poetry 23 other written fanwork

Types of fan art:

33 banner 53 book cover 29 comic 125 drawing/painting/etc 5 gifset 26 icon(s) 8 moodboard 8 photo manip

And over in our supported orgs, creators *overwhelmingly* are leaving the decision to their bidders. That said, the umbrella category heads up the list when creators weighed in on which orgs to support. The rest of the list shakes out like this:

Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights Middle East Children’s Alliance Freedom to Read Foundation Disability Law United Crips for eSims for Gaza News Literacy Project Global Project Against Hate And Extremism Hope for Ukraine Environmental Integrity Project Never Again Action In Our Own Voice: National Black Women’s Reproductive Justice Agenda National Network to End Domestic Violence Fight for the Future Education Fund Bellingcat Congo Leadership Initiative

So that's where we are at 7 days in to our 2-week-long signup window. Where will we be on Feb 2? We suspect it will be over our 2024 total and into new record territory. It's a terribly exciting journey — and there's still plenty of time to join us!

Signups are OPEN!

The Love Is Free charity anthology is out now from JMS Books – over 50 short stories in various LGBTQ flavors, all under 5k words! All proceeds will be donated to the ACLU!

My contribution is a new little short for Gareth and Lorre from Magician, if you’d like a glimpse of them on an afternoon off, visiting a museum…and a piece of Lorre’s past… The lovely @thebestpersonherelovesbucky has a story in here too!
