Despite our obvious happiness in Athens, I think we were all waiting for one thing. Holidays of course!

Once we knew we will have some free time in August, we started our broad researches about Greek islands. Local people helped us a lot but anyway it turned out that we have to go basically everywhere. We managed to create a map with 25 top recommended places and then… we were left with the choice!

How to choose between 25 amazingly beautiful places? Well, I won’t tell you because I still don’t have one perfect solution. We can say that our choice was a bit of coincidence and a bit of ‘okay let’s just go there because we have too many places and we have to choose something’. Personally I can say that I took into consideration one more thing – how much shadow we can get (everyone has some priorites and mine is to be in a place with a shadow if I can). We were told that ‘the more south you go, the less trees and green areas in general you have’, so we started to look more to north. And that’s how me and Hania ended up in Lefkada and then we met with Isabel to explore Kefalonia.

I’m a type of person who tries to travel whenever I have time (and preferably money but not always) so I was already lucky enough to see quite a big part of Europe. I still get excited about lovely landscapes pretty easily but I can compare them also to things I saw before and pick my favourite or the most beautiful ones. But what I’m trying to tell you now is that during this trip I saw places which were far beyond my expectations and even imagination.

Although travelling is not only about the places. I believe you can be in average place but you will enjoy it a lot if you will be surrounded by good people. The best combination is of course to be in insanely beautiful places with your friends while meeting kind, open-minded and unbelievably hospitable people on your way. That’s exactly what happened to us and I won’t exaggerate if I say ‘these were the days that we will remember for years’ 🙂

As I said, there are no words to describe some places and some memories so I would rather share few photos taken during our stay in Lefkada and Kefalonia.

Isabel, thank you for being always perfectly organized, carrying our food and few litres of water, exploring sea world together, teaching us sneaky cards game and your amazing google translator skills 😀
