Vocaloid is a series of programs that enable users to compose songs by inputting lyrics and melodies, and it uses virtual singers, each with their own human-provided voicebank, to perform those songs with synthesized, computer-generated vocals. It's widely used in music production across various genres, and some Vocaloid characters, like Hatsune Miku, have become cultural icons, even performing as virtual idols in live concerts.
