Are you looking for a cat to keep the rodents away on your property or barn? Consider applying for one of our working cats! We will keep a waiting list of adopters seeking vetted, spayed and neutered cats for their barn, warehouse, or other secure alternate housing type! Adopters may spend a few week to months on this list as it may vary when we get in cats looking for a working job!

Working cats are cats who serve an important job on your property, keeping the rodents away! You may have heard of the term "barn cat".

* This program is separate from our regular adoption program. The cats in our currently available album on Facebook are not considered for this program!

This program was inspired by Columbus Humanes Working cats program! We think this is something very needed in our area. 

We know that not every cat is suitible for an inside home. Some may be to stressed to live strickly indoors. Sometimes some cats do better with the freedom of being outside but still having a secure shelter to live in, like a barn on a farm! 

Cats being placed in this program are cats that are in our care, do not have an outdoor place to be returned to and will not thrive in a normal indoor home setting. They may range from social cats who enjoy being outdoors to cats that are not so socialized that we trap, spay/neuter and do not have a secure enough home to be released back too. Many rescues may euthenize unsocialized, misundersood cats as they do not have a home to go too. We believe with this program we can help less cats from being euthenized. We believe that every cat deserves a chance at a home with love, shelter and food where they can be themselves and live their best lives! 

We evaluate each cat's behavior to ensure they succeed in an indoor/outdoor or outdoor only home. 

We will place working cats into barns, stables, farms and more. Any place that we feel the cat is cared for and has a secure shelter is considered.

Adoption fee is by donation to help us keep this program going! 

You may not beable to pick a specific cat but by filling out our application you will beable to let us know what you are looking for. We will try our best to meet traits you are looking for. 

Just like adopting an indoor cat, your working cat will need time to acclimate to their new enviorment. This can take a few weeks to a few months depending on the cat! It can be done in a storage/tack room, large wire dog cage or garage. There should be enough room for food/water, litter box, some toys/enrichment and a hide for them. 

How to apply- Please fill out our working cats application to get yourself added to our wait list! You will be contacted to see if your property is a fit for one of our cats when we have a working cat looking for a job!
