I released audio enclosures in version 2026.01.1186. The goal is to enable audio on supported feeds to provide the full experience of any post. By no means am I trying to build a full podcast experience!

I'm looking for any and all quirks or bugs you may find. If you run across any issues with the feature, please let me know in the thread below, or by emailing me at support@jocmp.com. Screenshots and crashlogs are most helpful, along with detailed steps on how to reproduce the bug.

How to opt-in

This is amazing, I wish there was a way to import my podcasts I have on Youtube but I think I would need a hosted service to convert the videos to mp3...

ah yeah, this would be beyond the feature in Capy Reader, but many podcasts also syndicate via an RSS feed which should work within the app.

I have already been using it quite a lot and it's great!

I have noticed two things so far:

1. When a file finishes playing, it starts over. I would expect it to stop when it's done.
2. Do you think it would be possible to add a tiny icon in the gallery to indicate if there is any audio available? It would make the discoverability of podcasts better. Feedbin does some like this too:

Please add a simple link of the audio enclosure to access it with vlc/mpv/... and to listen the podcast.

Currently, I have private access to a journal but the new button does not work (nothing happens and the button looks like a stop button, see the attached screenshot).

@jpggithub to clarify, does the button look like a stop button when you visit the page the first time, or only when it fails to play the link?

Hello, @jocmp,

I have come across a case of a (great, I should mention 😉) podcast that stops working after an ad. The audio player is still playing but there's no sound.

I don't know how to provide more information. Will a log do any good for troubleshooting? Or maybe it would be good to replicate on other devices first to determine whether it's me and my phone, the app, or something else.

It's the Revisionist History podcast that is causing me problems. I have experienced this for the most recent episodes, but I think all episodes have ads and potentially the same problem.

Interesting, I wonder if this has anything to do with programmatic ad insertions. I'll take a look.

One thing that might be useful is any timestamps that this happens in episodes for this feed. I'll take a look as well.

I think you're right about the programmatic ad insertions. For this podcast, there is an option to subscribe and receive no ads.

For the latest episode, The Big Birthday Party, the ad starts at 16:58 and ends at 17:26. After this, there's no sound.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help troubleshoot.
