**Between the Rubble and Hope**
My heart is heavy with sorrow as I write these words. I am Lama, a 23-year-old woman from Gaza who lost everything in the latest war. My home, which was a sanctuary for me and my family, has been reduced to rubble. The place that held the memories of my childhood and youth, where I nurtured dreams and envisioned a future, is now a painful memory amid the destruction.
I lived with my elderly mother, my four sisters, and my brother with his family of three children. I relied on our home to provide safety and care, especially for my mother, who needed a stable and supportive environment. Now, everything is gone in a single moment, without warning.
On that fateful night, the shelling was relentless, and we had to flee, searching for shelter. With all the courage I could muster, I managed to save my mother and family, but we lost all our possessions—everything we had built throughout our lives.
**My Life Before the Catastrophe**
I worked at a company, striving to make a difference in my life. I was passionate about my job and worked hard to meet my family’s needs, with hope in my heart for a brighter future. Our home was full of life, echoing with the laughter of children and the warmth of family conversations.
What I cherished most about our home was my mother’s room, a place filled with warmth and love, with comfortable cushions and a sense of serenity. But now, all of that is part of the past.
**What Do We Need Now?**
My family and I now live in a temporary shelter, which lacks basic necessities. The children are struggling to adapt to this new environment, missing their sensory tools and toys that helped them feel calm. My elderly mother’s health is deteriorating due to the stress and grief.
Our urgent needs include:
- **A safe and stable shelter** to provide us with security away from fear and cold.
- **Clean food and water** to meet our daily needs.
- **Clothing and blankets** to replace what we lost.
- **Medicine and medical care** for my elderly mother.
- **Toys and sensory tools** for my brother’s children to help them cope with the trauma.
- **New sources of income** to help me reclaim my role as the family’s provider.
**How You Can Help**
I am now trying to rebuild amidst the destruction, but I cannot do it alone. I call on you to support me and my family during this difficult time. Donations will help us:
- Find a new home that offers us safety and stability.
- Provide our essential needs, including food, clothing, and medicine.
- Support me in resuming my work so I can provide for my family again.
If you cannot donate, sharing my story will help amplify my voice to the world. I am not just a victim; I am a symbol of resilience and a testament that hope can rise even from the rubble.
Together, you can be a light in my life and my family’s, proving that humanity can unite us, no matter how war tries to divide us.
From the depths of my heart, thank you for any help you can provide.
With hope, Lama
