Greek, Armenian Presidents Exchange Awards in Athens

Greek President Constantine Tassoulas, in a special ceremony on February 18 in Athens, awarded visiting Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan the Grand Cross of the Order of the Redeemer.

The Grand Cross of the Order of the Redeemer is the highest honor in Greece, established in 1829 and instituted in 1833 by King Otto to recognize exceptional service by citizens and foreigners. It features a white-enameled Maltese cross with a depicted Christ, worn with a sash on the right shoulder.

In return, Khachaturyan conferred Tassoulas with Armenia’s Order of Glory. The Order of Glory is awarded for significant contributions to the strengthening and development of interstate relations, peace and international security, the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, the development of economic relations, and the protection of moral and cultural values.

The Order of Glory, a state award, is given for exceptional contributions to strengthening interstate relations, safeguarding peace and international security, protecting human rights and fundamental freedoms, and promoting economic ties and the preservation of spiritual and cultural values.
