Welcome to the Tokioka Heritage Resource Center!
The Tokioka Heritage Resource Center provides public access to a repository of resources and services that help fulfill JCCH’s mission to educate present and future generations about the evolving Japanese American experience in Hawai‘i.
Resources
We have over 5,000 books in English and Japanese, periodicals, music recordings, video recordings, and vertical files. Our collections also include manuscripts, diaries, letters, and oral history transcripts.
Historic Photos
We have a number of photos in our collection that document Japanese American community life in Hawai‘i, before, during, and after World War II.
Services
The Tokioka Heritage Resource Center is staffed by a librarian and volunteers who assist users in locating information. Additional services provided to customers include non-commercial translation services and genealogical research assistance (including koseki tōhon). Please contact the Resource Center for more information.
Research
We welcome all researchers! Researchers must contact us in advance to make an appointment before visiting.
Book and Collection Donations
Our collections are made possible by generous donations of books, documents, photos, AV items, and other materials about the Japanese American experience in Hawai‘i. If you have items you might like to donate, please e-mail the Resource Center to discuss.
