During high school, my faith became relevant to me. When I started looking at colleges, I wondered what perspective a faith-based institution might bring to the classroom. I also I knew I did not want to be one of 400 kids in a lecture hall, so a smaller college was key.

The Calvin University School of Business routinely recognizes the graduating class each spring with dinner and an awards presentation called Senior Salute. The awards portion of the evening is designed to recognize students in three categories, including excellent, engaged, and faithful. The Excellence Award recognizes students who demonstrate academic excellence based on cumulative grade point average at Calvin and grade point average within major courses. The award recognizes significant academic community engagement that promotes effective learning in partnership within the church, community organizations, agencies, or business.
