Join us in the Parktown Food Hub garden as we enrich the soil and enrich our lives. All workdays take place at the Parktown Food Hub located at 5123 Revere Road in the Parkwood Neighborhood. Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty and please bring work gloves and tools if you have them. We're always in need of compost, mulch, and other supplies; reach out if you'd like to know more. Please Park across the street. [Note: Enter through the double red doors on the left in the Parkwood United Methodist Church building. Although the Parktown Food Hub is not affiliated with Parkwood UMC, PUMC is a generous donor and provides space for the Parktown Food Hub. Welcome to the Parktown Food Hub, an Agency of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC and a community-based partnership aimed at reducing food insecurity in South Durham, NC. We have two essential volunteer roles: food distribution and setup/preparation. Both are equally important—without preparation, distribution can't happen! No experience is needed, and all abilities are welcome. When looking for openings, please note that distribution slots are listed first, followed by setup & preparation dates / times. Be sure to scroll through to find the best task, date and time for you. Age Requirement: Food distribution volunteers must be 14 or older due to the fast-paced environment. However, children age 10 or older are welcome during preparation times, where tasks can be adjusted for safety and fun.
