I often stand by the window at night, gazing at that cold, quiet road in the sky—wondering if those I miss are truly well, with sunlight, with the smell of food, with smiles that never need explaining.
Sometimes the night pushes open an unseen door and I stumble into moments both strange and familiar. They feel like dreams, and yet more than dreams—like memories, with a warmth I’ve never owned.
I never choose who appears. It is never in my hands. It feels more like something arranged in silence—and all I can do is walk closer and witness their ordinary, luminous days.
I’ve wondered if it’s all an illusion. But the gentle pull at my heart each time I wake reminds me it is too real to ignore. So I write them down, again and again, weaving their sounds and breaths into words and into songs.
Perhaps, as a clumsy postman—not carrying messages, but gathering the scattered warmth of those encounters and offering them back to anyone who lies awake with longing.
