Lunch & Learn Webinar: SNAP and CalFresh
Lunch & Learn Webinar: SNAP and CalFresh
Join the Berkeley Food Institute for a timely discussion on what the changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) by H.R.1 mean for California. As these cuts to CalFresh (California’s SNAP) take effect, California families, advocates, and policymakers are working to understand what comes next. UC Berkeley Professor Hilary Hoynes and Monica Saucedo from the California Budget & Policy Center will draw on research and policy analysis to discuss the role of SNAP in family wellbeing, and what these federal changes will mean for Californians. Attendees will learn about how the changes to SNAP from H.R. 1 will impact California families in the short and long term, the timeline for these changes to take effect, and the fiscal implications for the California state budget. The conversation will conclude with a forward-looking discussion on what can be done to limit harm and support families affected as these changes unfold.
