On January 19, 2025, The United Chinese Americans Fargo-Moorhead (UCAFM) welcomed the Year of the Snake by opening its Chinese Spring Festival celebration to the public for the first time. This sold-out event, held at the Sanctuary Event Center and sponsored by North Dakota Council on the Arts, marked a significant milestone for the organization. By inviting the Fargo-Moorhead community to experience the richness of Chinese culture firsthand, UCAFM fostered a deeper appreciation for Chinese traditions and heritage.

The Chinese Spring Festival started with a pre-show featuring trivia games and kids’ performances. From cultural displays to trivia questions about the festival, the pre-show set the tone for an afternoon of cultural celebration. This was followed by a two-hour performance showcase curated to celebrate China’s diverse 56 ethnic groups.

The primary aim of the National Creative Forces® Community Engagement grant program is to enhance the health, well-being, and quality of life for military-connected individuals who have experienced trauma. The program achieves this by funding arts initiatives that encourage creativity, build social connections, improve resilience, and help smooth the transition to civilian life.
The Creative Forces Community Engagement Grant is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in partnership with Mid-America Arts Alliance (M-AAA).

ND Council on the Arts

Established in 1966 and funded by the State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, the South Dakota Arts Council (SDAC) is a state agency serving South Dakotans and their communities through the arts. Recognizing the importance of creativity in the lives of all South Dakotans, the Council makes quality arts accessible throughout the state by providing grants, services and information to artists, arts organizations, schools and the public. The Council is the advisory board to the SDAC staff within the Department of Tourism. Council members are appointed by the Governor.
