Yes, there is a 50% non-refundable retainer due upon contract signing. This will reserve your due date on my calendar. This is done because I only accept a certain number of clients each month. All remaining balances will be due by 36 weeks (or before ON CALL hours begin).

Do I have to use ALL of the services included in the bundle I want?

Absolutely not. Those are services available to you with that price point. You don't have to use any you don't want, however there are no refunds for services unused.

Do you travel?

Yes! I am located in Port St. Lucie, Florida 34952. I charge $100 for all births outside of Port St. Lucie. I do NOT charge any travel / gas expenses for active doula clients located in Port St. Lucie. However, if you have only purchased stand alone services and do not have a contract with me, my travel expenses are as follows. Within 15 mile radius from my base location is included in standard rate. 15 - 25 mile radius is $0.65 / mile.

When will you join me in labor?

I ask that you call me as soon as you think you're in labor, or your water has broken, even if you don't need me just yet. At that point, we will decide together if I should come then or wait for changes. Early labor can last for hours to days, which is why when you feel those changes in your body that may indicate labor is starting, I ask you call me. I'll be able to answer questions or make suggestions over the phone which will help us decide to meet at your home or your birthing place. I'll be there within a hour of us deciding I'm needed.

What if I want services not included in my preferred bundle?

All services I offer have their own price assigned. You can always purchase individual services not included in your bundle.

What if I'm having a medicated or hospital birth?

I will still be by your side providing support of all kinds WITHOUT judgment.

Do I need a doula if my partner or family is with me?

Accepted Answer

My job is not to take anyone's place. I work with your partner or family to support you. I'm there to support all of you with encouragement & education. My goal is to help your partner or support team feel comfortable with being more involved. Most women are able to give birth with none to little medical intervention, but in the instance that's not the case, I am there to give you the information you need to make good birth choices.

Can I hire a doula in my 3rd trimester?

Absolutely! Of course, sooner is usually better so we have time to appropriately plan, prepare and get to know one another, but you can hire me at any point in your pregnancy provided I have openings in my schedule.

Question 9

What if I don't need a doula but see a service I would like?

Accepted Answer

You by no means need to hire me as your doula in order to participate in other services I offer. Each service has its own price assigned so you can purchase individual services such as baby shower planning or home organization, etc.

Are you able to provide transportation to appointments or the hospital?

Accepted Answer

No, unfortunately I'm not able to drive you anywhere for liability purposes, but if transportation is a barrier for you, I can help you coordinate a ride via uber / lyft / taxi or some other ride option.

Will you replace the nursing staff or make decisions on my behalf?

No. I do not make decisions on your behalf or intervene in your clinical or medical care. I do not offer any exams, take vitals or do any care. I am there to comfort you, to support you, to provide information to you, to help you enhance the communication between yourself and your medical professionals and to respect your decisions.

How many births do you attend per month?

I am comfortable with 2 - 4 births per month. This allows me to build a strong foundation with each family while giving them my full, undivided attention & the individualized care they deserve.

If I'm considering adoption or surrogacy, can I still use a doula?

Of course! I offer free birth doula support for those planning adoption & half off doula support for those who are acting as a surrogate.

What type of physical support do you offer during labor?

Accepted Answer

As a birth doula, I provide hands-on physical support tailored to your unique needs during labor. This may include comforting touch such as massage or counter-pressure, assistance with optimal labor positions, breathing guidance, and use of tools like birthing balls, or heat/cold packs. I also offer alternative therapies such as reiki and aromatherapy. I’m there to help create a calm, grounded space and offer continuous presence to help you feel safe, supported, and empowered through each stage of labor.

How would you help me navigate difficult decisions or unexpected changes during labor?

In the event things are not progressing as planned, I would be with you to discuss options with your medical team. I would support you by staying calm, helping you to reframe the experience and ensure your preferences are still being respected whenever possible. My role is not just about supporting your original birth plan, but also about helping you feel safe, heard and capable no matter how things unfold. I'm there to encourage you to ask to questions & to verbalize your concerns / preferences, and to amplify your voice if you're not being heard.

I believe birth is a deeply personal and transformative experience, and my role is to provide steady, nonjudgmental support... physically, emotionally, and informationally. I trust your instincts and honor your choices, whether you envision an unmedicated birth, a planned epidural, or a cesarean. I work to create a calm and grounded presence, helping you and your partner feel informed, empowered, and supported throughout labor and delivery. My goal is never to direct your experience, but to hold space for it.... offering encouragement, comfort measures, and a sense of steadiness when things feel intense or uncertain.

Question 17

Will a doula help me avoid a c-section?

There are many studies that suggest a birth doula does reduce the chances of needing a cesarean. However, that is not a guarantee. I can guarantee you that I will provide you with excellent emotional, physical & informational support no matter how your birth unfolds. In the event you did need a cesarean, I will be with you to help you prepare for the procedure in every way possible. If your birthing place allows, and you prefer, I can also be by your side during the procedure. If not, I will be there to support you immediately afterwards.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Retainer & Payment:
A non-refundable retainer is required to reserve availability and begin advance care planning or vigil preparation.
Cancellations by Client or Family:
For scheduled non-vigil visits (e.g., planning, respite care), 24 hours' notice is requested. If canceled with less than 24 hours' notice, 50% of the time may be billed.
Vigil Coverage & Death:
Due to the uncertain timing of end-of-life, full presence at the moment of death cannot be guaranteed. I will make every reasonable effort to attend or coordinate with a backup doula if available.
If death occurs before services begin, no refund will be given for the retainer, but unused hourly payments may be refunded.

Where do you provide services?

I am flexible and able to meet wherever feels most comfortable to you. This can be the hospital, skilled nursing facility, hospice home, or to your personal home. There are times where the family would like to meet separately, and that can be arranged as well. I also offer services via phone or zoom.

What if I have no one to accept my ashes?

I would be more than honored to take your ashes to scatter them in an ethical way that provides dignity to you.

Absolutely! However, I cannot guarantee that I will have any availability. My best advice would be to book a package (even a small one) to get you on the schedule and then you can add more to it later down the road if needed.

What's the difference between a postpartum doula & nanny?

The role of a doula is very similar to other support specialists in that we can all care for a newborn. However, my role is different as I am there to care for your physical recovery & emotional support as well as to help foster the relationship between a new parent and infant and to help with the household tasks that may be overlooked during this time period.

At the heart of my postpartum doula care, you'll find emotional & mental health support. I provide a grounded, compassionate presence & judgment-free space for new parents to share their experiences, emotions & concerns. This is done through active listening, offering my undivided attention, validating your experiences, checking in regularly, reminding you that you aren't alone & that the rollercoaster of emotions is valid, sharing evidence-based information about what's typical during the postpartum period, as well as offering resource referrals and gently guiding you toward them. My goal is to nurture the whole person by witnessing, uplifting and walking alongside you.

Are there additional fees if I have multiples?

Yes, twins are booked at $38 / hour for daytime hours and triplets are booked at $41 / hour for daytime hours.

Do you charge for the holidays?

Yes. If you need my care on my holiday pay days, there is a $50 additional fee for the day. Those holiday pay days are New Years Eve & Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Eve & Christmas Day.

CONGRATS! I am so excited for you! I ask that you notify me within 24 hours of birth so I can prepare my schedule for you and the little one. You can simply drop me a text saying you just delivered and what day you'll be going home.
