Get Baptized Baptism is an outward expression of something that is happening inwardly — a change in your heart. When you are baptized, you are declaring to everyone that you are making a decision to follow Jesus. It symbolizes your old self dying as you go under the water and your new self rising as you come up (Acts 16:31-34).
