Sonorités de Paris is a sonic window into the Paris of the Belle Époque. Around 1900, the city was brimming with musical ideas, composers pioneering efforts in every direction. The album presents four composers who charted their musical paths during this exciting time. 

From the expansive Romanticism of César Franck to the sweet melodies of Gabriel Fauré, and on to the richly nuanced palette of his two pupils: the tragically short-lived Lili Boulanger and the nearly forgotten Jean Roger-Ducasse, both of whom wrote piano music that is truly mesmerizing.

Dutch pianist Florian Verweij (1997) is praised for his open-hearted and poetic performances, supported by a virtuoso technique and vibrant spontaneity. 

In 2023, Verweij made his debut in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw for a sold out Recital Hall. In 2024, he released his debut album Sonorités de Paris (Gutman Records), which received rave reviews in the press. 'A worthwhile release from a pianist of real character and imagination,' wrote International Piano.

Florian studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory with Jan Wijn and Naum Grubert, graduating with the highest distinction from both his bachelor's (2020) and master's degrees (2023). Since 2018 he has also been mentored by Eliso Virsaladze.
