Protect Trans South Carolinians: NO to S.162 - Action Network
Protect Trans South Carolinians: NO to S.162 - Action Network
S.162 is a direct attack on the trans community, making it impossible to legally change their gender on their IDs (identity documents) outside of restrictive scenarios. This bill would make life harder and less safe for trans South Carolinians, forcing identity documents to be mismatched and not reflect their gender identity. This bill also harms intersex people by placing a restrictive 12-month-since-birth timeline to make decisions and changes. S.162 does not solve a real problem or reflect reality. It creates new ones by denying people accurate identity documents, singling out transgender and intersex people, and making daily life harder and less safe for South Carolinians. Write a letter today to tell the SC Senate Medical Affairs Committee to vote NO to S.162.
NO to S.540: "Child Welfare"
NO to S.540: "Child Welfare"
S.540 is another bill proposed by the SC legislature aimed at harming LGBTQ+ youth by limiting the ability of courts and child welfare agencies to intervene when a child is being harmed by rejection or non-affirmation. It also legally protects parents and foster providers who refuse gender-affirming care, even when medical professionals recommend it. By prioritizing ideology over individualized assessments of a child’s well-being, the bill weakens safeguards for some of our most vulnerable young people. Every child deserves to be safe, supported, and affirmed, especially in their own home. Send a letter to the Senate Family and Veterans' Services Committee today telling them to vote NO to S.540 and trust the judgement of medical professionals.

End Bathroom Bigotry: Tell SC Lawmakers "NO" to S.199 - Action Network
The 2026 legislative session just started, and anti-LGBTQ+ extremists are already starting to attack trans youth again. H.4756 is a bill that targets trans youth in public K-12 schools and at public colleges/universities, requiring them to: Limit multi-occupancy restrooms, locker rooms, showers, and changing facilities to use only by a person’s “biological sex at birth.” Define sex strictly as male or female, based on reproductive anatomy at birth. Apply these rules to overnight trips, school events, and campus housing, including sleeping quarters. Allow individuals to sue schools or colleges if they encounter someone they believe to be “of the opposite sex” in a restroom or changing facility. Impose financial penalties: schools or colleges that don’t comply could lose 25% of certain state funds. Send a message now urging lawmakers to drop this senseless attack on trans youth. Enter your information to get started.
