Swannanoa Racist Roots Film Screening & Panel Conversation
You are warmly invited to join NCCADP for a screening of Racist Roots, a 25-minute film that uncovers the deep entanglement between white supremacy, racial terror lynching, and North Carolina's death penalty. Following the film, you will hear from two people directly impacted by homicide and the death penalty: Niconda Garcia, founder of Change the Rubric Jean Parks, a psychologist and longtime death penalty abolitionist. This conversation will be moderated by NCCADP's executive director, Noel Nickle, and will include time for Q&A. Where: Ransom Fellowship Hall, Warren Wilson Presbyterian Church, 101 Chapel Lane, Swannanoa, NC 28778 When: Sunday, February 15, 3:45-5:15 (with a meal to follow) This event is hosted by Swannanoa Valley Friends Meeting. It is free and open to the public. Racist Roots is a project of the Center for Death Penalty Litigation.

Tell Your State Rep: NO Executions in NC!
Right now, the North Carolina House of Representatives is considering a bill (HB 307) that seeks to restart executions in the state with methods such as electrocution and firing squad. Our lawmakers should look for smart, effective ways of reducing crime and protecting the public. Instead, they are ready to compromise the health and safety of corrections staff, to risk murdering innocent people, and to increase the likelihood of torture – all for the sake of expanding the death penalty, a failed public policy. Your lawmaker needs to hear from you. Send an email directly to your lawmaker and urge them to vote NO on HB 307!
