The Army Medical Department (AMEDD) Direct Commission program lets qualified healthcare professionals join the Army as officers without traditional commissioning routes like OCS or ROTC. You bring civilian medical expertise—such as medicine, dentistry, nursing, veterinary, therapy, social work, or psychology—directly into service and receive a commission in one of six corps. Direct commission officers serve as military leaders while continuing to apply their professional skills in clinical, research, and administrative roles across Army healthcare missions. This pathway offers accelerated entry, professional growth, leadership development, and the chance to serve both in the U.S. and abroad.

- Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP)  
Covers tuition, fees, and provides a monthly stipend for medical and dental students in exchange for Army service after graduation.

- Medical and Dental School Stipend Program (MDSSP)  
Offers a monthly stipend to medical and dental students in the Army Reserve while they complete school.

- Financial Assistance Program (FAP)  
Provides an annual grant and a monthly stipend to residents in medical or dental training who commit to Army service.

Step 1: Contact Me
The process starts with a straightforward conversation. We’ll talk about the program that interests you, provide information about AMEDD and the Army, and address your questions. When you’re ready, we’ll begin assembling your application packet.

Step 2: Physical
As part of the first stage in your application, you’ll undergo a medical examination at a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) or Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). Rest assured, we will guide you through and ensure you understand every step of the process.

Step 3: Virtual Board
After you finish all the necessary steps in your application process by the deadline, we will send your application packet to the selection board for review.
