In 11th century Córdoba, Princess Omeya Wallada bint al-Mustakfi walks the streets, her garments adorned with her own poetry. This rich cultural backdrop inspires Spanish soprano Isabel Cañada Luna, alongside American pianist Madison Da Silva, American violinist Crosby DeLaney Barret, and Syrian percussionist Inas Halal, to create "Sonore Al Andalus." This captivating performance merges ancient poetry with modern music. The show blends live instrumentation with electronic elements, creating a unique soundscape. Performed in a variety of languages, including Arabic dialects, Old Spanish, and Andalusi Romance, it reflects the historical essence of the era. Remarkably, "Sonore Al Andalus" is an all-female ensemble, spanning three continents, and champions themes of tolerance and women's empowerment. Through this innovative fusion of music and poetry, it bridges the past and present of Arab and Hispanic cultures, inviting audiences on a transformative journey.
