Six years ago, promising students from villages in Guinea-Bissau were brought to The Gambia to study the Qur’an and the foundations of Islam under qualified scholars. Today, many of these students are now ḥuffāẓ, having memorized the Qur’an after years of study. This Ramadan, some of these same students stood and led the Tarawīḥ prayers, a powerful sign of how far this effort has come. They will now continue their training as assistant teachers before eventually returning to Guinea-Bissau to teach in their own villages, ensuring that communities have teachers who truly understand their people and their needs.The money raised through this link is solely for the individual needs of the students such as food, clothing etc. The money raised will not be used to pay their teacher's salaries, thus making this campaign zakat eligible.

Haji Kunte Kinte’s Lodge holds an important place in the early history of Shaykh Muhamed’s work in The Gambia. The lodge also served as the first zawiya, a simple gathering place where people came together for learning, reflection, and companionship.When Shaykh Muhamed first arrived in the country, it was Haji Kunte Kinte who welcomed him into his home. Over time, the lodge became a place where visitors and students could gather and where the early foundations of this work began to take shape. Nestled among mango and papaya trees, it quietly hosted many who came seeking knowledge and community.Haji Kunte Kinte has long been known for his generosity and also donated the land that now houses the Kairo Clinic. Today, in his old age and facing health challenges, we are raising funds to renovate the lodge so it can host guests again and provide a modest source of income for him and his family.

Fidya & Kaffarah DistributionYour fidya or kaffarah will be distributed locally in The Gambia by feeding needy individuals. This is done either through the local staple food (approximately 1.5 kg of rice per person) or through prepared cooked meals.The current estimated cost per person fed is calculated on meal or staple cost, transport, packaging expenses that are necessary for the delivery of the meal or food stuff. This is determined at the time of request as prices fluctuate.
