Community Updates
Where Have We Been?
• The SOS Challenge tutorials have concluded, and more than 16 hours worth of educational content about leading (or participating in) an OHDSI network study are now available on the event homepage. Studies are ongoing, so please join our teams to help answer these clinical questions.
Anna Ostropolets shared the final version of the OHDSI Standardized Vocabularies Assessment. One of the goals of this community activity was to create a more transparent and reliable release cycle. Please join our June 6 community call for a full session on OHDSI vocabularies.
• Congratulations to OHDSI veteran Thamir Alshammari on earning the distinction of being one of the 15 new ISPE fellows for 2023. The new Fellows will be officially inducted at the Annual Members’ Meeting & Awards Ceremony scheduled for Saturday, August 26th at the Halifax Convention Center, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
• New jobs and PhD opportunities were shared during May. Please visit our This Week in OHDSI page to learn more about openings throughout our community.

Where Are We Now?
• The OHDSI 2023 Global Symposium collaborator showcase deadline is less than three weeks away. All brief reports must be submitted by 8 pm EST on Friday, June 16. More information on the collaborator showcase is available here, and you can use this link to submit your brief report.
• The OHDSI India chapter will be hosting its first webinar on “Redefine Indian healthcare with Real-world data and Real-world evidence” on June 14, 2023, from 3-4 pm IST. This webinar will share the latest progress within the RWD/RWE space in India and share how collaboration with the OHDSI India chapter can transform the healthcare management landscape in India. Nicole Pratt, Vikram Patil and Parthiban Sulur will be among the featured speakers. If you are interested, please visit the OHDSI India homepage to register.
• The PIONEER team is leading a studyathon June 13-16 in Stockholm, Sweden, with a focus on “Observational health data analysis on the adverse events of systemic treatment in patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer” and is looking for participation from the OHDSI community, and specifically members of the Oncology WG. This will be a hybrid event so online participation is welcome. If you are interested in learning more, please fill out this form. PIONEER are especially looking for: collaborators with data on metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer already in the OMOP-CDM; experts with coding skills in R, SQL and Python; data analysts familiar with R and R Shiny; and epidemiologists with experience in phenotyping.

Where Are We Going?

Collaborator Showcase Extended At OHDSI2023; Please Join Us By Submitting Your Brief Reports Before The June 16 Deadline!
The Collaborator Showcase is always one of the most anticipated parts of the year. Once again, we are inviting our community to participate in the Collaborator Showcase for the 2023 OHDSI Global Symposium. Collaborators will have the opportunity to submit their work for poster presentations, oral talks, and software demonstrations.

This year, the collaborator showcase will be extended throughout the weekend, so presenters will have multiple opportunities to share their work!

Topics should align with at least one of OHDSI’s strategic areas of focus:
● Observational data standards and management
● Open-source analytics development
● Methodological research
● Clinical applications

The OHDSI 2023 Global Symposium collaborator showcase deadline is less than three weeks away. All brief reports must be submitted by 8 pm EST on Friday, June 16. We received a record number of submissions at the 2022 Global Symposium, and record totals for both the 2023 European and APAC Symposiums, so we are very excited to see what research will be presented this October 20-22 at the Hilton East Brunswick Hotel & Executive Meeting Center in East Brunswick, N.J.
