Fig-Lab: 20 Years of Soft Vinyl Stories
フィグラボ：ソフビと歩んだ20年

東京を拠点に活動するクリエイティブディレクター、ドン・クラッツァー。ソフトビニール（ソフビ）玩具を通して、日本の職人技とインディートイカルチャーを世界へ発信してきました。本プレゼンテーションでは、Fig-Lab の20周年を節目に、ソフビ制作の現場、国内外のシーンとの出会い、そしてこれまでのハイライトを振り返ります。

Tokyo-based creative director Don Kratzer has spent two decades immersed in Japan’s soft vinyl toy culture through his brand Fig-Lab. In this presentation, marking Fig-Lab’s 20th anniversary, he reflects on the makers, factories, conventions, and global connections that have shaped his journey—and the enduring appeal of sofubi as both craft and culture.

Artist Hinata Ukai, known for creating Deco Combine works, transforms fresh visual shocks into playful artistic expressions. In this talk, she shares the ideas, motivations, and beliefs behind her practice, and how unexpected reactions become an essential part of her creative process.
 

江戸時代の混浴秘話

Hidden Stories of Mixed-Gender Baths in Edo Japan

江戸時代の混浴銭湯は、単なる庶民の憩いの場ではなく、当時の社会構造や性産業とも深く結びついた、独特な文化システムでした。庶民文化研究家の町田忍は、その成り立ちや仕組み、そして明治期に西洋文化の影響を受けて消滅していく過程を、豊富な資料と視点から紐解きます。

Born in Meguro, Tokyo in 1950, cultural historian Sinobu Machida explores the hidden social systems behind Edo-period mixed-gender public baths. Far from being simple places of relaxation, these baths were intertwined with everyday life and the sex industry of the time. Machida traces how this uniquely Japanese system emerged, and why it ultimately disappeared under the influence of Western culture during the Meiji era.

プロダクトデザイナーの田幸春菜は、色や素材が持つ魅力を丁寧に引き出しながら、プロダクトに美しさの法則を宿していくアプローチを実践しています。「Fragments of Ideas」をテーマに、日常の中に散らばる小さな発想の断片が、どのようにして一つのプロダクトへと結実していくのか、その思考とプロセスを紹介します。

Product designer Haruna Tako explores how color, material, and form come together through careful observation and experimentation. In Fragments of Ideas, she shares how small, often overlooked moments of inspiration gradually take shape, revealing the path from abstract idea to tangible product.

How Fonts Can (Really) Change the World

シブヤフォントのプロデューサーである磯村歩夢は、障がいのある人との共創を軸に、デザインを通して社会と人をつなぐ活動を続けています。シブヤフォント、そしてご当地フォントの取り組みを通じて、文字が持つ力と、デザインが社会に与える可能性について語ります。

As producer of Shibuya Font, Ayumu Isomura works at the intersection of design, social inclusion, and community. Through collaborative type design with people with disabilities and regional font projects, he demonstrates how typography can become a tool for connection, and how design can play a real role in shaping a more inclusive society.
 

Industrial Craft: The Future?
産業工芸という未来

工業製品と工芸作品の境界は、どこにあるのでしょうか。デザイナーの春江紗綾は、歴史の中で「産業」がやがて「工芸」へと価値転換してきたプロセスに着目し、現代の工業技術を文化として捉え直す試みを続けています。本プレゼンテーションでは、「産業工芸」という新しい視点から、未来のものづくりを考察します。

Designer Saaya Harue questions the boundary between industrial production and craft. Looking back at history, she notes how many manufacturing techniques eventually became cultural heritage. Through her concept of “industrial craft,” Harue explores how today’s factory-based processes might one day be re-evaluated as craft—and what that means for the future of making.

世界でいちばんすごいケーキたち

PechaKucha創始者マーク・ダイサムによる恒例のユーモアあふれる20×20プレゼンテーション。今回はホリデーではなく、23周年バースデースペシャルにちなんで、「世界で最も印象的なケーキ」をテーマにお届けします。学びと笑いが詰まった、締めくくりにふさわしい一幕です。

In true PechaKucha tradition, co-founder Mark Dytham closes the night with a playful and surprising 20×20 presentation. For this 23rd Birthday Special, he turns his attention to the world’s most impressive cakes, a lighthearted, informative, and laugh-filled celebration to end the evening on a high note.
