Lord, consume me from the inside out.
Words that have a powerful meaning to them. Words that must be more than mere words; they must be a way of life of every Christian man. You may have noticed lately that I have done a great deal of writing about the topic of authentic Christianity. This is because I have felt the call of God on my heart to be a part of this idea of living a life where I can freely share, with my brothers and sisters in Christ, the truth about the struggles that I face in my daily walk. Proverbs 24:16 reads, “though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again.” These words would not be true were it not for the saving love and grace of Jesus Christ.
I will often remind those around me that I am far from where I desire to be in my walk with God. We all are. However, there is another side to that thought. All I have to do is relinquish myself to Christ and follow His direction for my life and all the other pieces of life will fall into place. Will it be easy? No. Yet God alone is capable of creating in us a fire and passion to be better, to live better and to submit better. I am reminded of the story of the prodigal son. Though this man turned from all that had sustained him in life and squandered all that he had, his father still took him back.
I struggle daily with the temptations of the world and I will admit that I often fail more than I succeed, but I never seem to lose sight of the truth of God’s love and my ability to come back to Him and give Him all the struggles of my life and heart. He alone can handle every aspect of our lives with saving grace power. So I encourage you now that whatever trial you are facing or whatever sin is bogging you down, remember that God is bigger than any sin and any trial. We will never be perfect until the day we stand in glory with the risen Saviour. Today is your day for a new beginning. Come to think of it, it’s mine too.
