How I rate my anime/manga
• 10 (Masterpiece): A must see and truly beautiful series that is close to perfect, connects with me emotionally and has many beautiful moments that have a huge impact. Has multiple aspects that are more than just special and beautiful. Feels like a step above a 9 and a series that will stay with me for life, deserving of several rewatches over time.
• 9 (Great): While not necessarily perfect, these works came as close as possible through my eyes and are HIGHLY recommend for anyone wanting to consume anime. Typically, these works stand against others of it's time as a beacon of 'art' for numerous reasons, and are something that I believe ANY consumer of anime should watch at least once. Without exception, I believe these will stand the test of time and will eventually come to be seen a works of pure art. Might have some very minor issues, but still well worth anyone’s time.
• 8 (Very Good): Your typical successful series, Genre enthusiasts should definitely watch! There were several features here which had been quite well polished, and even those that weren't as amazingly executed still hold up in general. Although...said areas that might still 'holdup' may only do just that: 'hold up' the rest of the work, and on their own are actually marks against the work as a whole.
(Note: All the anime in my favorites will only ever come from the 8, 9, and 10 categories. These are hard numbers to obtain and stay at).
• 7 (Good): Recommended. Has some flaws, but still enjoyable. Usually caused by one or two aspects that were executed so well that they felt special and made the series memorable and also has most of its other aspects done well. Series scored with a 7 tend to have many aspects executed better than an average series of that genre. May still have problems but they are mostly overshadowed by something the series achieves well. If it’s an airing series, it’s something I actively want to watch from week to week. Check it out if the premise sounds fun to you!
• 6 (Fine): Mediocre, Might be worth your time if you really like the genre, but there's better shows out there... These series have one or two aspects that it does really well that it separates itself from an average enjoyable series, but also lacks proper or complete development in characters or plot that would push it to the next level.
• 5 (Average): Meh. Mediocre, not the best, but also not the worst. More or less a snooze fest. A majority the time I managed to keep my interest through-out but had a major problem or several major problems that I could not overlook that negatively impacted my enjoyment, however it also has aspects that I like about it that cancel it out, or a series that I enjoyed with no major issues but does nothing to separate itself from an average series.
• 4 (Bad): Not the worst thing ever, but not worth watching either. Might at least be funny in a so bad it's good way.
• 3 (Very Bad): Awful. I had to force myself to watch each episode. At this point the series becomes very draining to watch at multiple points. At this point I start to regret that I used my time to watch this series and will probably watch in x2/x3. Might have 1 or 2 merits that keep it from being a complete failure, don’t waste your time on this shit.
• 2 (Horrible): The best part about this? It's over. Or at least, it's over for me. Literally painful to watch. This experience genuinely felt like torture whilst watching it. Something I had to force myself to go through and feels draining through almost the whole series. Lacks literally all aspects of development and story-telling and ironically next to no parts that were entertaining at all. Not even so bad it's funny.
• 1 (Appalling): An absolute trainwreck. Everything that could have gone wrong, did. These series actually anger and frustrate me to a breaking point, never mention these to me. They are crimes on humanity. Avoid at all cost like your life depends on it!

Analysis of Paranoia Agent (aka masterpiece)
One of the themes of the show (and Satoshi Kon's work in general) is how fantasy can affect reality, and how the line between the two is often blurred. That's deliberate ambiguity, so there's no definitive answer as to what "really" happened, and the confusion is not only understandable, it's expected. Shounen Bat and Maromi are meant to be foils of each other. They are both manifestations of our escapism, both feeding off of mass hysteria in different ways. Shounen Bat's terrorism is from Tsukiko's imagination in the exact same way that Maromi's frenzied popularity is! They're both her creations, and they both reached a deep, dark desire within us to escape our own lives.
