Deregister iMessage

You may need to turn off iMessage if you are now using a non-Apple phone and cannot get SMS or text messages someone sends you from an iPhone.

Still have your iPhone?

Follow the steps below to turn off iMessage.

  1. If you transferred your SIM card from your iPhone to a non-Apple phone, put it back in your iPhone.
  2. Make sure that you’re connected to your cellular data network.
  3. Go to Settings > Apps > Messages.
  4. Turn off iMessage.
  5. Tap Settings > Apps > FaceTime.
  6. Turn off FaceTime.
