Tell us about yourself and what inspired you to become an Aesthetician?
Hi, I’m Maiya Paige, owner of Akoya Skin in San Antonio, Texas. I’ve been a solo aesthetician for eight years, specializing in barrier repair and corrective skin treatments. My approach blends results-driven skincare with a calm, welcoming environment where clients feel supported, educated and confident throughout their skin journey.
Growing up, my mom always emphasized enhancing natural beauty with just mascara, lip gloss, moisturizer, and sunscreen. She introduced me to skincare at an early age, shaping the way I view skin health today. To this day, she still has the most beautiful skin I’ve ever seen!
At 20, I had the opportunity to see behind the scenes of the aesthetics industry through a med spa connection, and it immediately sparked something in me. I began with my laser technician license, but once I discovered corrective skincare, I knew I wanted to pursue aesthetics on a deeper level.
I completed aesthetics school and continued advancing my education in dermaplaning, chemical peels, and microneedling. What started as an appreciation for natural beauty has evolved into a passion for transformative, results-driven treatments that strengthen the skin barrier, restore confidence, and create lasting change.
How long have you been an aesthetician, and what is your favorite part?
I’ve been a licensed aesthetician for since 2017 and opened my business immediately after earning my license. Building something of my own and watching it grow alongside my clients has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
The best part? The relationships. I have the privilege of helping women feel confident in their skin while also being someone they can laugh with, vent to, and celebrate life’s moments with. Some days, it truly feels like I have a hundred best friends and that is something incredibly special.

Where or what is the best place, you’ve ever been to?
The best place I have ever been is the Rocky Mountain National Park. As a mountain girl at heart, I completely fell in love with the views, the wildlife, and the feeling of being fully immersed with nature. There is something about the mountains that instantly grounds me. They bring clarity, calm, and perspective in the the most powerful way.
What are your must have Skin Script Products?
