Most AI sleep models are trained on thousands of samples, and can potentially match expert-level performance for typical adult sleepers. The real challenge lies in the long tail, encompassing individuals with conditions such as apnea or insomnia, as well as users on various devices or firmware. Moving up to 15 million samples means these rare patterns appear hundreds or thousands of times rather than just dozens, giving the model enough exposure to perform consistently across all these subgroups rather than just performing well on average.
