...The target technology is a stream cipher. Each call to ::Invoke() returns a 32bit word. ( insert notes here about SALMON's operating speed ) SALMON uses a block cipher called SERPENT at the very end portion of its output. SERPENT was a finalist from the NIST selection tournaments. There is also mild use of a portion of Salsa20/12 called a "quarter round function". The key schedule relies on SHA-2 (the standard hash function of the NSA.) -

AvRtos is a small, preemtive, priority based real time operating system for Atmel AVR and ARM microcontrollers. It was written in C. AvRtos provides message queues and semaphores for task synchronization. It uses a static memory allocation scheme. AvRtos is nearly the smallest RTOS out there. Even pico]OS is much bigger. AvRtos can be compiled using gcc compiler. There is a AvrStudio 4 and Eclipse project file to get the example code working very quickly. -

The primary part of the casefix project is a small c library of case editing functions, the heart of which is 7 streaming case editors. Also, there are 3 functions that interface char arrays and strings to the streaming editors. So the library can modify the casing of any character, character block (word), any character string, character array, or any character stream. Currently, libcasefix only handles 7 or 8 bit character sets with some support for UTF-8. With that in mind casefix does support a number of character sets for internationalization. Also, there is a casefix command that implements the functionality of the casefix library for use at the command line. -

Detection of homologous recombination events from SNP data
...Based on SNP alleles calls and locations, it breaks the genomes into locally colinear blocks, and looks for cases where SNPs do not agree with the vertical pattern of inheritance in a phylogeny. It applies a dynamic programming algorithm to model whether changes within a block are likely a result of mutations, sequencing errors, or HRE. We use information from the nearby SNPs, so that if 1-2 alleles in a series of SNPs differs from the ancestral allele, it may be better explained as a mutation or sequencing error. But if a series of SNP alleles differ from the ancestral pattern, then it may be more likely that an HRE has occurred, particularly if the allele pattern matches that from another part of the tree better than that of the ancestral node. -
