History

On August 26, 1923, the Most Reverend Edward J. O’Dea, Bishop of Seattle, blessed and dedicated St. Anne School in the Queen Anne neighborhood of  Seattle, Washington to the service of God and Country.  The eight grades, taught by the Sisters of the Holy Names, opened on September 4, 1923 with an enrollment of 150 students. The school has remained strong and viable throughout its rich history of change and growth.  A major building expansion and remodel was completed in 2002.

St.  Anne School is a ministry of St. Anne Parish and is one of 13 Catholic Elementary and Middle Schools in the Archdiocese of Seattle’s North Seattle deanery.  Through its teachings and examples in the broader community, the school has a rich tradition of passing the Catholic faith on to multiple generations of students and Parish families.  In 2018, the school received its third, 6-year term of accreditation from The Western Catholic Education Association (WCEA).

St. Anne School is going through the accreditation process during the 2025-26 school year. The school is supported by tuition, parish subsidy and fundraising income.

A committed faculty and staff of lay persons currently serve over 260 students in Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. We recently celebrated our 100 year anniversary and will continue to cherish the upcoming years and memories of St. Anne School.
