PROS;
+ Gameplay really boils down to brief exploration segments where you examine objects of interest. However, a large and integral part of the experience amounts to a small variety of minigames which include your factory duties of slicing up... beef with a circular saw controlled via your mouse while avoiding the unwanted bits a la Tetris. Then troubleshooting said apparatus when it overheats with a console by lining up patterns in the right order and way. Before you're met with some otherworldly navigation whilst evading a nefarious being sensitive to noise! There's even a rhythm game of sorts for the final encounter. Quite an array of ingredients to be finished off within less than an hour and all for $3 bucks!? A real steal of a treat if ya ask me~

+ The visuals are stellar and just a PS1-esque feast...! It's a hark back to that era of look where it's sort of low-poly but not quite? I've always been bad at words! There's even a clever little nod, wink, and finger gun in terms of damning environments. A horror scene straight out of Silent Hill or something! Luckily, this title will fill you up on nostalgia pretty quick, and no further explanation is thus necessary. You'll know it when you see it~

+ The soundscape is tender & juicy, oozing of a slow burn descent into purgatory or something crazy! Starts off fairly soft and chill then it ramps up into schizophrenic episodes before all hell is raised! I recall the last track being particularly rocking as well as awfully memorable to consume~

+ Is it scary? I don't know... Is murder? Don't answer that. You be the judge. I have a better question for ya- are you ready to have your entire stance on eating meat reversed? After finishing this and licking the plate clean, I am now a honorary vegan cleared of acne and toxins, committed to correct the mistakes of my ancestors. Kidding! But there's a sliver or truth in there somewhere. It's up to you now, do it for me, FOR US~

CONS;
- There's a super prominent "out-of-body" experience after you're done interacting with the computer or any of the newfangled technology! Specifically, whenever text is done being present on screen, you'll find that you have lost control of your character and you have to left-click the screen to regain that agency. It's similar to when you juggle and between swap your open windows, sound is zoned out and time has frozen. It's creepy, sure but I don't think you should sell that feature of the product~

- I could see the twist of the story coming from miles away. Which isn't necessarily a terrible thing, that's how subversion of expectations tend to be orchestrated. Yes, I was slightly off but I got the main beats of the tragedy down. The other elephant in the room isn't exactly tied to content as it is more on delivery and pacing. Squeezing and stuffing so many reveals in mere minutes leaves no room for curious minds to digest...!

- This is probably the biggest shocker of all. No fail states! Well, to be accurate there are, but they open the game up to riducule and anticlimactic moments. It is practically impossible to die unless you're really trying to do so, which is in itself pretty counterintuitive. When you do "die" though, you get a plain and nonchalant end screen and just get whisked to the main menu losing all progress, at least I think you do when you bomb at the first meat-slicing minigame! Not sure about the rest of the game though, yikes!! There's also one section involving the wandering baddie I mentioned where getting discovered by it has you bleed and collapse but you don't lose any progress.... In fact, I'm not even sure what really happened. It just spawns elsewhere? This makes the nemesis less of a threat and more of just a mild nuisance, if even that. Honestly, this element of the game is the least thought out. It ruins immersion and logic~

BUGS;
x On one playthrough, I could not interact with the screen despite it flashing endlessly indicating to me to do so.

x The same text kept repeating and I couldn't advance.

NITPICKS;
~ Quite a few misspellings and other innocent typos.
~ Full keyboard support would benefit the minigames!

VERDICT:
"Beef is at times like a half-baked product flawed across several criteria. But then other times it is properly cooked and incredibly well-seasoned. However, after all that's been said and done, the highly affordable price for the very proportional fill makes this a no-brainer must have~"

PROS;
+ Gameplay is pretty much the same as every other walking simulator horror title or is it now? Well, you have scavenger hunt type puzzles, twice the amount than in Claire, that will occupy you for about a solid hour so make sure you keep your eyes peeled all around! I read people found them tough but I much rather enjoyed them and solved them with ease. Though I could see why some may condemn them and give up halfway. It's an acquired taste after all and I possess superior intellect, what can I say! There's also the little nook and cranny details that I wholly welcome which flesh out the family tree and grant some good ol' foreshadowing of fates. All in all, the mental deterioration of an ordeal lasts 3-4 hours~
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3641745886

+ The chases make up the other mechanic that set Claire apart from Ethel, thus they deserve their own pro because they aren't your standard "scripted chase run in a pre-defined path for a bit to escape" fodder. They double as tense stealth sequences where you have to rely on both your spatial memory of the interiors of the house and your hopefully accurate hearing as you're bathed in total darkness. The patrolling spirits may or may not have some pesky habits built in too... Shh, I've said too much!

+ Ethel was an audio Picasso, so what does that make Claire? I'd reckon the latter is a museum of Picasso's masterpieces...! There's still the signature creaks, murmurs, and whispers but with slightly more restraint. Voice acting has been implemented tenfold and that's always a win in my eyes or rather ears, hoho! Beth's tone is characterized by hopeful naivete and a prim proper cadence, she was a joy to listen to! The ensemble fit right at home too with no obvious weak links.

+ Tony Shoulders must either moonlight as an architect or was one in a past life. Why, you ask? Just look at Claire's pad, MMM! Whereas Ethel's cozy residence was the embodiment of claustrophobia awash with depressants, Claire's is grand but not too lavish with traces of the former's spirit coming and going depending on the mood lighting, if at all. I can't wait to see where the next game ventures! I need another spooky staycation, pronto!

+ In all truthfulness, I much preferred the tightknit and nuclear-family-esque nature that revolved around Thomas. And I was pretty perplexed and bewildered by the extended family of Beth and Claire. It was a traumatic hark back to the rapid fire recollections that your mom could muster with the snap of a finger and 99% rate of accuracy too. Then it hit me, yeah, families are meant to be complex and secretive. For that alone, the realism of it all brought it up in good standing yet again. Once I brushed through that, I could genuinely appreciate the melodrama that followed and I wanted to beat the living daylights out of Claire. That poor fool! I won't ever understand certain character motivations, but I can respect it especially if it is deemed significant to them.

+ What makes it scary? For one, you'll be either pleased or utterly crushed and might I add fearful to know that the jumpscares have been toned down. Now, you can only wait for the scare that will never come... Or maybe they will, when you least expect them. BWAHAH Secondly, this was true for Ethel's case as well as Claire's too, so I feel it fair to mention and give it the recognition it deserves. But the way the endings are handled were done so with poise. Heck, before you decide on one, you're given all the facts to make an informed decision unless you only skimmed through them, lols...! Last but not least, check on your family? Stay in touch. You never know what they are going through. On the other hand, some relationships are better left strained, your call! It does have you think though~
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3641744833

CONS;
- To my dismay, as I have lived out this experience firsthand and personally underwent many a deaths, I can imagine that a majority of consumers will find fault and vent out their frustrations on the matter of the chases. In particular, one of the ending routes' ensuing chase is downright unbeatable unless you perform a *specific* action; closing a door for a ghost! The problem here is all the other encounters played by the same rules- turn off your lighter and you're fine. Don't run and you're golden. As such, it kind of felt cheap and broken.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3641841328

- You get to revisit familiar territory in chapter 3 and I was all for it. That was until I realized that a retconning of one of the endings to Ethel, sort of. It may have just been really clever subverting of expectations. That said, I found, speaking as someone who played its predecessor, there's quite a bit of dredging through facts we already know and have established in the first game, least for the player. I understand Beth has to discover these too, I just thought there were better and less redundant ways of doing as such. Tony admitted in the credits that Ethel was going to be a standalone thing and had not idea it would develop into a full-blown franchise and it showed.

- The voice acting was above average and generally acceptable throughout its runtime. However, I did find some of Beth's delivery flat and surprisingly enough they're reserved for the moments that should carry the most emotional weight and stakes! The end result being that I was sucked out of the shocking scenes...

BUGS;
x Model of malevolent spirit revealed way in advance. Staying firmly in place possibly due to triggers not working right.

NITPICKS;
~ "I need to stay quiet" text repeatedly appears whenever I press shift during the chase sequences.

~ The way and pace in which Beth runs is super underwhelming... Sometimes I can't tell when I am running.

~ I just realized both Ethel and Claire are missing audio settings!

~ It would be nice to credit the voice actors too for potential fans and/or networking purposes.

VERDICT:
"Claire may be more posh and ambitious but it does not necessarily translate to her being more able. Sure, she can carry herself with more grace but when she lets her hair down, she does so twice as hard in ferocity and relentlessness sacrificing some clarity in the process. She's louder too, more vulnerable and yet she chokes when it counts most. That said, just like Ethel, her beautiful humanity & spirit are preserved proving the sequel curse invalid~"

3.75 out of 5 Warnings~

PROS;
+ The gameplay isn't something to write home about being a horror walking simulator and all but what is present is executed well. Walk around, pop goes the jumpscare, read optional notes that flesh out the lore, get an additional scare if you're (un)lucky, and reach 1 of 2 endings within 1.5 hours. I understand too that it's the developer's first title, now THAT? It's what made it all the more impressive.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3634954546

+ The audio design was most... irksome and you never had a moment of peace despite being out of danger! I was shocked by how crisp the sound effects were, how accurate they corresponded to the layout of gammy's place. In fact, I was genuinely curious of what I had just unleashed or rather by what was quickly approaching me.

+ Normally I would refund a game that employs more than its fair share of jumpscares. But since it's past the 2 hour mark- kidding. Seriously though, while I cannot quite put my finger on it... I could make out, call it a premonition if you will, that the developer tried real hard to not just make them as random as possible. This is reflected as well in elements of the masterful narrative. When the tense moments arrive, they're varied in intensity, almost as if there are messages of their own to unravel. Sure, the developer is a huge fan of them hitting hard and blocking an artery half the time! I rather enjoyed them. It's enough to overturn my whole verdict and stance on jumpscares!

+ Visually, it's an ordinary house that's seen some tough times. Yes, it's a horror game and so what's the alternative, right? But what I meant to say was that in spite of the clutter and disuse, I could easily visualize that it was a proper & lovely home at one point... Until, well, y'know stuff happened. I was taken by the meticulous detail in each room. There's always something extra special to draw and hold your attention. You could really tell someone of Ethel's state lived here, you feel me?

+ Now the story, the glue, the red herring, the magician's assistant, and magnum opus all wrapped in one! You come into the introduction guns blazing, you have committed a heinous crime... But why? Is it justifiable? If so, why and how!? Also, why have you returned after so long to the scene of the crime no less? Why now of all times?? These are the questions that plague your mind and which will be further besieged by even more uncertainty as you proceed. The tight progression of a pacing without a moment of rest I'd say is akin to an entry from The Conjuring universe (or every stereotypical haunted house movie ever now that I think about it) but just delivered effectively and engagingly in a game format!
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3634955175

+ Last but not least, is it scary? Frankly, not really. At least not when you view the plot, atmosphere, and gameplay in isolation from one another. However, when they all come together? The result is damnation for your soul. I mean, you're posited as this terrible person from the get go and in my head I was already judging Thomas Myrtle and that he deserved every bad thing coming to him. Because first impressions matter, right? RIGHT!?? That was of course till I realized, oh wait I *am* Thomas- he is me. Then I was like no, I don't deserve any of this, stop, enough with the jumpscares! PLEASE!! ...do I? The story truly makes you think deeply about addiction, family, and everything in between. As a former horror expert who was desensitized for the most part to the overabundance of horror games. This title grants me hope!

CONS;
- There's a slight disconnect between the information being made available to you as you advance in-game organically and what is already being displayed on the Steam store page. This is something I have noticed with newer releases, a trend of sorts, if you would. So, for instance, the fact that Thomas is an addict is something I would consider a major spoiler material, but apparently not as it's readily stated in the features section of the game page. Me, I did not know that nugget of lore going in and the reveals got me mindblown even more, in my opinion! Another thing is the marketing of there being "checkpoints" on the store page, which isn't false but isn't entirely true either. There were but two, one after a jumpscare so you may have missed it from looking elsewhere recovering from the scare and the other located at a very inconvenient and time-consuming point! Not too bad, but I thought it brought down the experience a tad.

- The partial voice acting was great but the fact that only two lines were voiced in the prelude and then a whole lotta nothing after that, excluding the hauntings, seemed like a missed opportunity to me. Needing to focus and read the tiny subtitles detracted from the immersion of getting tortured as well as being present in the scenes. You have heard of "show, don't tell", well I want the exact opposite. I don't want to be signaled as to how I/Thomas should be feeling at any given time. Imagine watching a silent film but every other aspect is screaming and functioning as a normal film. I understand that there may have been budget issues as it was a debut title and from what I can tell, it's been addressed for future titles!
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3634955799

BUGS;
x The pause key worked sometimes and other times it didn't.

x Sprinting into the house non-stop will cause Thomas to wheeze uncontrollably for the entirety of the time spent indoors until he steps outside again.

NITPICKS;
~ Would have benefitted from a disclaimer of there being only two checkpoints and that the game doesn't save any progress besides those.

~ Text had a slight "seizing" effect of when they are triggered like they are going from "left-aligned" to "centered".

VERDICT:
"Ethel is a fascinating old broad that I had a rewarding period to figure out. She is mysterious, grief-stricken, and well-prepared. She isn't perfect but she is close to it though and besides, that imperfection is what propels her forward. I will cherish her memory for many decades to come~"

PROS;
+ Inspired and nerve-wracking use of the otherwise standardized choices in VNs, turning them instead into verbal & psychological battles in the form of dreaded interview questions. I mean, um, I welcome them. I do not fear them at all. Nor have I ever feared them... Nailed it! Also, I admired the progression and explanation of mechanics as they were being introduced. It was a little nostalgic moment akin to Danganronpa's tutorials. Each of the five bosses (LITERALLY) were different not just in terms of management styles obviously but also in their processes. Naturally, this carried forward to the solutions in overcoming them too. You are never asked the same question twice! No two bosses are alike, which we know is false, but its a blessing here.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3633346337

+ This visual novel did something, no, ACHIEVED THINGS I have never witnessed before! Not only did it boast the usual intrinsic and subjective benefits like having a relatable story, feel-good characters of which I will get into more later... It had unmistakably practical and extrinsic value by being a literal job interview simulator. It felt like a real-life interrogation. Prepping me the A to Zs of what not to say and do, that honestly made me feel even more confident and less anxious for when I do eventually decide to be part of the traditional workforce.

+ The cute character artwork were vanilla or I should say- they were initially at least, as looks aren't the main focus after all! However, the more time I spent with the supportive tells-it-like-it-is Prof. T, the more I have come to appreciate the details of his appearance. Same goes with each subsequent character being inserted into the plot, with their signature shades that tie into and complement their personality! I have a particular soft spot for Violet, an archetype that would have been tiresome and nauseating in other games but was handled with depth here and dressed in glorious bubbly pink aesthetics!
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3633346877

+ I went in expecting just a run-of-the-mill story to serve as icing to the "job interview" experience bit which was the cake, right? But boy oh boy, I was misled...! I got both and more! The plot did not just defy all expectations; it shocked, wowed, and subjugated me to its mercy. It was coherently modern and had a twist unlike any other! I will recall it and its ideals on a daily basis. Even the resolution, of which there were three, did not feel cheap. It's a larger-than-life tale full of heart and soul with the right amount of theatrics but it stays surprisingly grounded.

+ As someone who played the demo before, I was baffled by there being some voice acting present. It's very possible they were already there before and I just forgot but no matter, they're always a neat added detail and a nice touch to have which really helps sell the narrative! While there was an odd delivery or two namely in the cadence not matching the tone of the scenario, I thought everyone was cast brilliantly and tremendous work.

+ I cannot stress enough the importance in the existence of this game, which is criminally underrated still, it goes above and beyond general entertainment. Don't get me wrong, it can still keep you occupied for 5 hours or so (as I am a fast reader, hmph), but its most valued contribution is how it acts as a priceless resource for job seekers. Yes, you can search up tips online, but from the manner in which everything was conducted down to Prof T's mentor-assistant approach. It felt like a personalized counselling package. Even the unfortunate circumstances in which the protagonist found themselves in... It felt representative of the everyday recent graduate. Wait a minute, "what if I already have a job? Won't it be less useful and meaningful for me?" Nope! It also grapples with the mundaneness of life after job, and as such, I felt understood and not judged once despite being posited as a "failure" both within this story and in reality (by my own family). Just trust me on this, it's a multifaceted experience that has changed my life for the better, I'm positive it will for others too~

CONS;
- Sound design felt a little hollow when compared against other VNs. I felt as though there should be more audio cues to signal the selection of less desirable answers and vice versa during the interview portions. There were also more moments of silence than appropriate with a noticeable lack of sound effects to populate the world especially when out in public or just conveying movements.

- The background CG art fell short of the typical colorful standards and clashed with the cartoonish character avatars. This is not a big problem in and of itself for there were some remarkably cool and attention-stealing dynamic visuals that brought life back to the more often than not static atmosphere.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3633347588

- The "major choices" presented and being marketed as such throughout the story actually did not have much of a bearing on the final outcome. Also, outside of the interview segments, choices surprisingly seemed to be mere paraphrases yielding the exact same reply save for a few exceptions.

BUGS;
x Violet's route. After a certain action, game freezes.

x Number of instances where entire interface collapses and all HUD options are grayed out.

x Fourth boss; backtracking on one of the questions results in IP being increased instead of a decrease allowing the bar to be filled even before the final question

NITPICKS;
~ Ever since becoming a voice actor, I've come to notice gaps both in the VAs' performances and unsuitable contexts, this has been true both for this game as well as other titles. Lines with recorded dialogue were few and far between, with the same statements getting recycled quite frequently, even when the situation did not call for them.

~ There's a delay between transitions sometimes or with text that have voice lines resulting in abrupt pacing.

~ Some typos that were likely the product of autocorrect.

~ The option to "Skip" text should be bound to a key too.

~ Choices have uneven text font size

VERDICT:
"A job interview visual novel with a heart of gold and a scathing method. True to its name, it questioned you and left you speechless but also taught you to solve the problems innovatively. Ironically its strive for perfection left it vulnerable to flaws and some questionable effort in various departments. However, it recovered in the end proving it is more than qualified for the tasks at hand~"

Soulmate brought me here, and now I am hooked...!

Yes, it is P2P yada-yada-yada, but I play it casually on Android cause it is cross-platform.

I have a guild that I am solo holding down the fort. Would manage a shop again~

PROS;
+ Cut-to-the chase version of Danganronpa & Zero Time Escape. No puzzles though which is refreshing.
+ Super brisk pacing which is unheard of for the genre...! Unique quality!
+ So far it is predictable, or so it's made to be. I think it threw us off the scent-!
+ Mystery be mystery-ing... At first I was like "meh, this is such a by-the-book whodunnit" but then my mind began to swirl.
+ Couple of cool CG art, mainly deaths.
+ Inconspicuous and serviceable music.

CONS;
- Brevity; a strength and a double-edged sword. Barely any time to get to know unwilling participants... which I guess is the point but also impersonal and wasted opportunity.
- Samey personalities of characters.

NITPICKS;
~ Auto speed slider is reversed, for no apparent reason when everything else goes to the right...
~ Typos! Quite a few of them!

VERDICT:
"This whodunnit plays fast and hard with the rules... of the genre that is! To the untrained eye, it appears to be a poor man's copy of Danganronpa meets Zero Escape but without all their intricacies and signature mechanics. Stick around for a while however, then you will witness what sets it apart and feel your heart beat out of your chest. Thus, what it sorely lacks in the personality department, it makes up for in numbers. I've said too much~"

PROS;
+ Many a replay value...!
+ Accessible as it comes with a casual mode!
+ Simple but profound plot-
+ Had me shook.
+ Creative twists and interactions

CONS;
- Experienced a crash and got caught in a object

VERDICT:
"A thorough and haunting reimagining of what makes spot-the-anomaly titles so popular! There's a very realistic atmosphere overall, and more importantly it caters to players of all skill levels with its difficulty tiers, which while not necessary is always a plus...! That and the additional goody of a post-completion mode will keep players entertained as they meander through life~"

FIRST IMPRESSIONS;
A semi-serious, realistic, and intriguing invitation that pulls you in with an offer you cannot refuse.

PROS;

+ DA. GAMEPLAY
Each of the three chapters are so different from one another that you never quite know what to expect! From “convenience store horror simulator” to “Grand Theft Auto-like sandbox quest” and everything else nefariously comical in between! It even accommodates for various playstyles such as the “ADHD route” where it bombards you with as much distractions as possible, “frugality route” where you conserve every resource you find, “chaos route” where you shoot and whack your way through problems, and etc.

In fact, you know what it is truly reminiscent of? The PS1 games that do not hold your hand, even if in actuality they do, I mean it certainly and nostalgically looks like it belongs in that golden era. But with the “limited” gameplay logic of point-and-click adventures where failure to find and use items in a certain order or way will bar you from progressing… Point is, so much depth to it than you’d otherwise figure. Besides, chances are you would still be missing out on goofy characters by your fifth and subsequent attempts~
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3412648225

+ DA CREEPS!
Sure, there was no in-your-face uber terrifying baddie or constant palpable apprehension… It’s worse! It’s life, and you know something is genuinely scary when you can picture the events actually happen before your eyes.

Misogynistic Karens? Check. Scummy scum of the Earth? Affirmative. Just plain, uncomfortable and/or painful conversations with rude unhelpful individuals? SIGN ME UP. But hey, it does have its fair share of possibly inspired by horror movie moments as well.

+ DA PLOT~
I have no idea why but the first chapter and former demo to Envelope, will forever be iconic for its effective setting of the mood and then against all odds derailing from that trajectory with an unfathomable & unpredictable second act. The story itself is so simple that it comes off elegant! Besides, who cannot relate to the notion of a letter that can change the course of your entire life!?

+ DA DESIGN…
My soulmate and I absolutely chowed down and digested the overall eccentric & “heck yeah, vibe to this” score. There was much love & attention poured into the locations- with special mention to chapter 2’s small town setting and inhabitants. It just felt so lifelike by how it is populated by a… colorfully shady lot, some you hate and others you downright despise and wish death upon!
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3412648690

CONS;

-DUH, POTENTIAL
It is hard to explain because sometimes it is perfect and more elaborate than you’d think. Then other times, the “unfinished” aspects come off glaring and stick to your brain, becoming all you obsess over.

For instance, a number of NPCs appear to be open to interactions, but instead awkwardly gawk at you. Furthermore, the interiors of one house in particular were surprisingly bare. Killing people seems to have no consequences or purpose besides quelling your frustrations.

And yes, there is a “save system” but not the conventional one you’d like… At the moment, you MUST play chapter 2 in one sitting or risk losing all the quest items. I just want to take my time and come back to it y’know? I’d even accept a quick save huhu.

There were a few other examples of *sucks in breath* moments where it was clear the budget was an obstacle and I absolutely get it. However including said mechanics but not developing them isn’t the way to go about it either. Which is why I hope this game will be revisited and its full potential gets realized!

BUGS;
x I couldn’t really find any, and I truly tried to. Having me as a playtester really worked against me XD
x Just replayed and I encountered one where trash bags couldn’t be removed from my person/camera.

NITPICKS
~ The main menu needs more hidden features, lmao
~ Some typos and grammar stuff, the former I have pointed out but they’ve yet to be addressed.
~ NPCs with dialogue are played once and then never again. Which is a miss because the humor is bomb!
~ The item currently equipped gets holstered in the third/final chapter after a cutscene. DAWG!
~ Having no voice acting was a missed opportunity but luckily I’m working on a lil’ something as to what could have been. Kekeke.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3412877972

LAST WORDS;
An adventurous love letter to various genres while still having its own unique spin & character. What it lacks in wholeness, it makes up for with heart, a charmer of a town, as well as “anything goes” humor~

A short & colorful thrill that may scare ages 15 and up… but how bad could it get, right!?

PROS;

+DA. GAMEPLAY
A few bites of exploration and note-finding mixed in with a couple ounces of palpitating chases that escalate into unexpected encounters, all while throwing in a modicum of fooling around (on the player’s end), and Little Screamies is the end result, grown in a flashy test tube. Or so I heard, anyhow~

+ DA CUTIES!
We need some merch of those fine creatures right away…! Who is/are the artist(s), I know it says so in the credits, but please tell me again- they could give some of the timeless & iconic mascots across mainstream media a real run for their money~

+DA ENVIRONMENT…
The same level of love and attention for said gobble-worthy critters was obviously given to the level designs, if not more even! The array of unique props, pleasing color palettes, and foreboding signs complemented one another without coming off overbearingly uneven to the point of inducing eye strains~

+DA PLOT~
Truth be told, the story isn’t much to write home about, or maybe there is and I just missed it in one of the optional collectibles- those buggers are driving me mad, I tell ya! Seriously though, it’s like an episode of Scooby Doo had amalgamated with Martin Mystery and that made for a nostalgic trip down man-child memory lane but with a not-so-satisfying payoff~

CONS;

-DUH…STUFFING!?
A number of reviews claimed this game was too brief- well, I beg to differ. It runs a tad too long, with tasks that become more and more repetitive. I would rather have it cut to the chases, no pun intended, as that would have showcased its adorable entities even more! Don’t get me wrong though, the pacing was perfect in the first half; it’s the second half that made the padding very apparent~

- DUH. CONTROLS.
Can’t quite place it but running felt weird as if there was a delay between hitting the shift key and it registering. Sometimes its other interactions will be rather testing as well, but fortunately it is not too gameplay-laden~

BUGS;
x Platforming sections towards the end

NITPICKS
~ Crouching gets cancelled automatically when opportunity allows for it to.

LAST WORDS;
Looks can be deceiving, and it cannot get any truer than Little Screamies. This is a splendid Halloween concoction passionately brewed with designs that will be both a treat for the eyes AND heart~
