I'm not one for long winded reviews, but DELTARUNE warrants something much more than just a thumbs up and a silly sentence or two. Still though, I think this will barely be enough to scratch the surface on how I deeply I love this game. I forgot what it was like to be this invested in a video game, I thought I'd just grown out of that sort of level of investment I guess. I remember playing Chapter 1 the night it dropped on halloween 2018 and I really enjoyed it. I didn't think much of it besides a fun little Undertale spin-off. I ended up skipping out on Chapter 2 at launch, but once Chapters 3 + 4 got revealed in the switch 2 direct, I decided to go back and play 1 + 2. For the past two months now this game has taken over my life.

Everything about this game from the characters to the world, lore, and story intrigue me to no end. I've gone down the rabbit hole of brainrot theories and came out the other end expecting Woody from Toy Story to come track me down in Chapter 3. Somehow despite having what I thought were lofty expectations for this game, it managed to outdo anything I could've imagined being possible in just four chapters. There are so many layers to what's going on in this game's story. Whether you want to just experience the game once on a casual playthrough, or go full schizo and come back telling me about Naked Ralsei and Piles of Asriel's dust, there's something here for everyone.

it's generally a difficult task for me to properly word how I feel about a piece of media, but I'll try. This game has heart and SOUL beaming out of every corner. DELTARUNE makes me feel the same way Earthbound made me feel when I was 8 years old. The passion Toby Fox has for the story he wants to tell is palpable. You can feel it in every line of dialogue and piece of flavor text through the game's entire runtime, and I'll gladly wait another seven years to let him see his vision through. It's been a very unique experience to in a sense have had the game grow up with me, and the thought of how that plays into its themes of escapism is a bit scary (but I know Ralsei wouldn't want me to think about all that). If you're willing to take the plunge, DELTARUNE is something that'll stay with you for a long time.

This game is fantastic and the best rougelike I've played since Isaac. I'd say it changed my life for the better but if I graduate college with a gambling addiction I'll come back and give this a thumbs down. I don't think real poker has Sock and Buskin though so I think I'm chillin.

Good game but PC port is unplayable if you don't lower your refresh rate to <60hrz and im not gonna do that every time i want to play this game if you really want it on steam that badly just wait for origins or get a fan remake that actually runs on pc. Most of my time with this port was trying to figure out how to get the game to run at a normal speed.
