the freedom to be in loving relationships with pretty, well-written characters while also being not-so-loving and murdering every single person in sight is a gift that not many games give me.

sure, a lot of games maybe have both of these characteristics, but they don't execute it well enough for me to dedicate 500+ hours to it within 4 months of having said game
