John Carmack and ID Software studio gave the legendary series of games Quake, Doom, Wolfenstein to the world, thanks to which the company gained worldwide fame among players, among the press and among those who are far from computer games. It's not a secret that Doom and Doom 2 are considered the standard of first-person shooters. The first two games are considered classics of the genre and this is a fact that cannot be disputed. As for the third part, at the time of its release Doom 3 was liked by both players and the press. Many noted the oppressive atmosphere of the game. It was noted that the main character is completely alone during the entire playthrough, as for example in Alien Resurrection (PS1, 2000). Doom 3 is fundamentally different from other shooters from the popular Call of Duty and Battlefield franchises, where the single-player game consists mainly of playing in almost a straight line, shooting crowds of opponents. In Call of Duty-like shooters, you approach a door, Captain Price demolishes it, you move on and watch a cut scene. There is absolutely no such thing in Doom 3.
BFG Edition received mixed reviews, especially at launch, and I think it’s unfair. Most of the criticism was directed at the long loading times of locations (which is absolutely not true), forced console-style auto saving (which is certainly not nice, but not bad either. Modern!) and control scheme (what’s wrong with it?? ? I don't understand.). Well, many critical reviews say that it’s not good that the flashlight can be used all the time, and not like in the original game. I do not agree with this criticism of the reviewers and believe that the BFG Edition has not become worse, but even better, in particular in the game:

1) Improved rendering and lighting.
2) Checkpoint save system.
3) Controller support.
4) Armor-mounted flashlight allows you to see and shoot at the same time.
5) Stereoscopic 3D (on supported devices).

The Doom 3 BFG Edition collection includes Doom 3 with all DLC, Doom and Doom 2 as well as all add-ons. If you want to have a good time, shoot a lot, run through darkened corridors, collect resources, look for keys/codes to doors, then Doom 3 BFG Edition is your choice. I recommend it to everyone who loves shooters and games from ID software.
