The purpose of this document is to explain the process of setting up a static page on your WordPress site. This document doesn’t discuss the automatic display of posts on the Home page. It is a pre-requisite that you understand the difference between the\u00a0Pages<\/a>\u00a0and Posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is a Static Front Page<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

By default, WordPress displays a list of Posts<\/em> on the home page of your site. This list of posts is automatically updated<\/em> as soon as new posts are published, thus this is not static. Also, there is no need to create any page in order to have WordPress displaying this list of posts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Static Front Page is a specific Page<\/strong> used as the Home Page<\/em> of the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to create a Static Front Page<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Reminder: to create a page, go to Pages > Add New<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Home Page<\/strong>: (if not already created) create the Page you want to use<\/strong> as the Static Front (Home) Page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Posts Page<\/strong>: (if not already created) create an empty page<\/strong>. Give it a title<\/strong> that will be used on top of your posts list. This step is mandatory<\/strong> as you are modifying WordPress default setting. Any other content other than Title will not be displayed<\/em> at all on this specific page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Setting<\/strong>: go to Settings > Reading<\/strong>, then ‘Home page displays’.\n

    1. Static Page setting: select a static page<\/strong> (instead of the default Your latest posts<\/em>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Home Page setting: in ‘Home page’ list, select the page you want<\/strong> for Static Front(Home) Page.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Posts Page setting: in ‘Posts page’ list, select the empty page<\/strong> you created. Do not select any page with content<\/em>, as it will not be displayed. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    4. Save your settings<\/strong> by clicking ‘Save Changes’ button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Connect to your site home page: you should now see the Page you selected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
