Ratings for services and experiences

In addition to a written review, guests can leave a rating for a service or experience. Ratings work a little differently for services and experiences than ratings for homes

Guests: Rating a service

When guests leave a review for a service, they’ll choose an overall star rating (1-5) and answer a few questions.

These questions can vary slightly, depending on the service (for example, location might not be applicable for some services):

  • Were you happy with [the service]?
  • Were you happy with [the service professional]?
  • Did the [service] run smoothly?
  • Was the service location nice?
  • Was the service a good value?

Guests can respond with either Extremely, Very, Somewhat, or Not at all.

Guests: Rating an experience

When guests leave a review for an experience, they’ll choose an overall star rating (1-5) and answer a few questions

These questions can vary slightly, depending on the experience:

  • Was the [experience] unique?
  • Was the host knowledgeable?
  • Did the host make it easy to connect as a group?
  • Was the location special?
  • Did everything run smoothly?
  • Was it a good value?

Guests can respond with either Extremely, Very, Somewhat, or Not at all.

Hosts: reading your reviews

Hosts can find a summary of their reviews in their Insights page, on the app and on desktop. On this page, hosts can find:

  • Overall rating: Along with their overall average rating, hosts can see how this rating compares to others in the same category, worldwide. For example, a host who offers a cooking class can see how their rating compares to all other cooking classes.
  • Detailed ratings: Here, hosts can see how they’re doing on each of the rating subcategories (Excellent, Good, Fair, or Poor). This is calculated using guest responses to subcategories. For a deeper look into these ratings, hosts tap to see details. On the detail page, tapping (?) will display the distribution of ratings.
  • List of reviews: Hosts can click on a review preview to see the full review left by the guest, including public review and notes.

  1. Click Today and click Menu
  2. Click Insights
  3. Select the listing you want to check
