Traveling with children

Airbnb is committed to maintaining an inclusive and respectful community that's welcoming of all people, including people traveling with children.

  • Hosts may specify that their space has features (or lack of features) that could lead a guest to determine that the home is unsuitable for guests with children.
  • Ultimately, however, the decision as to whether a home is appropriate for a guest, their family, or their co-travelers is up to the guest. Everything pertinent to a home should be included in the listing details to help the guest make an informed decision, but guests should feel free to message the host if they have questions about the listing.
  • Please note that hosts are allowed to place reasonable restrictions on how guests use their home when required for legal or compliance reasons, but this should be clearly mentioned in the listing description. For example, hosts may limit the use of certain items in their house to adults.
  • Hosts can't decline a reservation because guests didn't disclose they are traveling with children. However, children are subject to a host’s maximum guest capacity, so hosts can decline reservations if the total number of guests, including children, exceeds their maximum capacity.

While not a requirement, guests may also want to consider letting the host know who’s coming—including infants and children—when making a trip request.

Booking places to stay

You can add the the number of adults, children, and infants to your search for a place to book, or during the booking process.

If a home is considered unsuitable for children or infants, Instant Book will be disabled for that listing. Instead, you'll need to use Request to book, giving the host the opportunity to deny your request if it isn't a good fit.
