Pricing display in the United States

Laws in the United States set requirements for the way fees and taxes are displayed to US guests.

Price display for guests in the United States

Guests in the US will see a fee-inclusive total price before taxes on all listings. The setting to turn total price display on or off has been disabled for these guests. Taxes which Airbnb collects will be displayed before booking, and the details of the price can still be found in the price breakdown during checkout.

More information on taxes

  • Taxes which Airbnb does not collect will not be displayed before booking. Additional taxes not reflected at booking may apply in these jurisdictions. Check out a list of jurisdictions where Airbnb collects applicable taxes.
  • If a host has a listing in a jurisdiction where Airbnb collects taxes (e.g., Transient Occupancy Taxes, Lodging Taxes), the total price displayed before booking will still include the tax that Airbnb collects.
  • If a host has an obligation to collect taxes for a listing in a jurisdiction where Airbnb doesn’t collect taxes, the total price won’t separately display the taxes to the guest. The host is encouraged to display or include the tax they’re collecting in their nightly price and not charge the tax separately to the guest (e.g., on check-in).
