I will tell anyone coming to Sri Lanka - stay with Ravi at Margosa Mountain Villa. Best stay on our trip and top 5 lifetime. Stunning setting. Perfect room. Delicious food -organic rice, fruit, fish etc. right from the property, expertly cooked by Ravi’s wife Sewwandi. Pool is sublime. Birds galore (and easy to find and ID with Ravi’s help). Booked for two days. Stayed for 4. Great spot for excursions Dambulla, Sigiriya, and beyond, but we were happy just to relax and meditate on our good fortune to be there. Ravi spent 23 years as tour guide and it shows both in his care and expertise. I know this review sounds like a plug from one of his friends but I promise that 5 days ago we’d never met. But, yes, we have definitely made a new friend. Stay as long as you can.

Janik & his mum are such lovely people - they are really attentive, so friendly & helpful. As has been mentioned before, the food here is delicious from the homemade granola & fruit, omelettes, pancakes at breakfast (you won’t need lunch!) to the great curries in the evening, all made freshly to order. We took one of their evening (starts at 2pm!) safaris which was great value - the National Park is very close to the property.

I’ve been in Sri Lanka for 4 weeks and stayed at more than a dozen places. This one I will never forget. When I first saw the ad, I thought it looked too good to be true. But since there was a special price for the opening, I thought I’d give it a try. I could not be happier with the choice. I've had an unforgettable experience. This place is absolutely fantastic! To help future guests, I will try to provide as much detail as I can in BOTH columns: The cottage only opened in February 2024, so everything is brand new. Unlike in other places, you actually get what you see in the pictures. Everything about this place is very well thought-through and built in a way such as to allow for a most pleasant stay: The cottage is located very quietly in the middle of nature but still close enough to town (5 min by tuktuk). It has an outdoor terrace with two regular and one swing chair offering a lovely view over the garden. The bedroom is beautifully designed and very spacious. The wardrobe and dresser offer plenty of space to store luggage openly and easily accessible. The beds are very comfortable and the mattrasses have standard European/US length (I mention this because sometimes in Sri Lanka, the mattrasses are shorter so that your feet stick out at the end). The A/C is very powerful and there are no smells (which sometimes happens with older models). It cools down the entire room very evenly. There are multiple electrical outlets which all types of sockets (even USB slots). There are light switches for every single lamp which allows you to set the lighting in just the way you prefer. Worth mentioning here too is the warm temperature of the light. The WiFi is reliable and sufficiently strong for browsing, streaming, and video calls.

Best stay during the whole trip! Amazing property and staff, cutest dogs and close to everything yet quiet. Also had to do some remote Teams meetings and the WiFi worked perfectly. Very charming and authentic vibe.

Beautiful hotel with full sea view to hikkaduwa beach. Frenzie is the sweetest host who upgraded us to a beautiful suite and made our stay memorable. Staff is excellent and attentive. Best hire in hikkaduwa

Simply stunningly beautiful hotel set in acres of farm land. Such a fabulous place to relax and unwind. Loved the farm tour, so interesting, and the pool was wonderful. Delicious food and incredible staff!

One of the best places I've stayed in. Beautiful house with a beautiful garden. The family that runs the place was extremely nice. The place is very quiet and serunded by jungle, but it is very close to the beach. Took me 3 minutes to walk with my surfboard to south-beach. I recommend it very much.

This place is super special. Tucked away in a family home. The room and facilities were of a very high standard, clean and most satisfying. The owners were really accommodating. They really could not have done anymore. They checked in on me everyday, whilst allowing me to enjoy my alone time. The breakfast was above and beyond. It felt like I was eating at a palace. They served me western and Sri Lankan food, encouraging me to try new variations. The owners themselves are just wonderful people, who will stay in my heart forever. Thank you for such a lovely stay.

Such a beautiful resort, we enjoyed every minute and wish we stayed longer, quiet and peaceful yet a short TUK TUK ride to the centre of town. Staff was very helpful and friendly Thank you very much
