James Cook University Merit Scholarships (International)
James Cook University is awarding Merit Scholarships to individuals wishing to study at James Cook University's Singapore campus who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and well-developed skills in critical thinking and creativity. These scholarships are competitive and are only available for international students.
Scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, determined by the results of the highest qualification attained. Eligible students may receive an award of up to S$20,000, depending on their results and the program of study.
JCU Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
The merit scholarship is for eligible high achieving international students.
Applicants must:
- Be an international student, commencing studying at JCU for the first time
- Be commencing study as a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate student at Singapore campus
- Not be enrolling in Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours), Graduate Diploma of Psychology, Master of Psychology (Clinical) and Master of Philosophy
- Meet James Cook University academic entry requirements
- Submit a complete application form including scholarship application form and relevant documents
- Eligibility criteria vary dependent on country

JCU Merit Scholarship Terms and Conditions
- This scholarship is only available for international students studying at the Singapore campus of James Cook University (JCU Singapore).
- The scholarship is only open to new international students commencing in selected intake.
- Scholarship awardees are not eligible for any other scholarship available at JCU Singapore.
- The scholarship awarded is transferable only within the same degree level with the same course fees should the scholarship awardees decide to change course. If the fees of the changed course are higher, awardee is required to pay the fee difference. Awardees are allowed to transfer only once should they decide to change course.
- Minimum subject fees payable is capped at 12 subjects’ tuition fees for undergraduate program and 6 to 8 subjects’ tuition fees for postgraduate program following the scholarship award and any advanced standing granted from the assessment of application for admission.
- The scholarship amount will be offset against the final subjects undertaken (up to a maximum of 8 subjects).
- The scholarship is applicable for all bachelor’s and master’s Degree programs except for Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours), Graduate Diploma of Psychology, Master of Psychology (Clinical) and Master of Philosophy.
- The scholarship amount does not cover any re-module fees should the scholarship awardee fail any subject during study.
- The scholarship may be withdrawn at any time if, in the opinion of the University, the scholarship holder’s progress or behaviour is deemed unsatisfactory.
- JCU Singapore does not guarantee and/or provide scholars with employment upon graduation.
- If the scholarship holder decides to withdraw from the university and/or terminate the scholarship prematurely, the university reserves the right to impose repayment of all scholarship monies disbursed to the scholar.
- It is subject to the university discretion to award the scholarship.
- Scholarship is not applicable for transfer to any James Cook University campus in Australia.
- Scholarship recipients are required to take on the role of student ambassador or any other similar role representing James Cook University to give publicity talks and testimonials as and when called upon to do so.
- In the event of any dispute the decision of the university will be final and binding.
