AISC Base Plate Design Calculations

The document summarizes the design of a base plate for a column based on two different design codes. For the AISC-ASD code, a W12x106 column with an axial load of 600 kips on a 19x16 inch base plate with a thickness of 1-5/8 inches was determined to meet design requirements. For the AISC-LRFD code, a W5x16 column with an axial load of 1100 kips on a 28x26 inch base plate with a thickness of 3-5/8 inches was found to be satisfactory. Both designs were checked for bearing pressure and plate thickness requirements.
