Cherubim in Tabernacle and Temple

Cherubim were used extensively as ornaments in the Tabernacle and various Jewish temples. In the Tabernacle, cherubim were embroidered on the curtains and depicted on the mercy seat covering the Ark of the Covenant. In Solomon's temple, cherubim were carved into the inner sanctuary and placed over the ark, and they were depicted on the veil and walls. Ezekiel's visionary temple also had carvings of cherubim on the inner walls and doors. While the second temple of Herod lacked actual cherubim statues, its walls were painted with images of them.
