Laura Cameron has demonstrated good class management practices, professionalism in the classroom and a solid understanding of music curriculum in her placement. Instructional time is effectively
utilized in a focused and purposeful manner in Laura's teaching, with little time wasted or devoted to non-instructional tasks. She relates very well to the grade 2 students and interactions are sincere,
authentic and informative, providing timely information as required.

Laura is aware of student learning styles and is developing a repertoire of teaching strategies to
address diverse needs in her assigned classes. During my observation of a music lesson, Laura
provided students with interesting interactive activities involving rhythm. Her planning of this lesson
was thorough, seamlessly integrating SMART technology into the lesson. To follow up and
demonstrate their learning, students used Orff instruments to support their rhythmic configurations,
illustrating binary form.

Laura demonstrates collaboration through discussions with the AT on planning and assessment. She
is constantly seeking ways to improve using the guidance of her AT and other staff. Her technology
and music skills have been an asset in the classroom. All paperwork is up to date and thoroughly
done.

a thoughtful and accurate assessment of a lessons effectiveness, the extent to which it achieved its
goals and how it may be improved, including the probable successes of different approaches.

Laura demonstrates a good understanding of the Ontario curriculum by exhibiting a sound grasp of
subject material and related skills in her teaching assignment and assessment practices. The depth of
her knowledge is evident in her lesson preparation and program delivery. Laura continuously reflects
upon teaching practice and refines lesson, unit and long-range plans accordingly. She uses technology
and software application packages regularly and effectively to enhance the delivery of classroom
programs and improve student learning. Laura demonstrates ongoing encouragement of students
through thoughtful, caring and compassionate feedback. Laura is encouraged to allow sufficient "wait
time" for student responses to allow for well-developed answers. She is soft-spoken, yet clear and
uses this to her advantage as she is engaging in front of the students. Laura reinforces to school
expectations regarding respect and deportment and models these for the students.

Through detailed and thorough lesson and unit preparation/planning, Laura aligns assessment
strategies with learning objectives and curriculum expectations. In consultation with her Associate
Teacher, Laura effectively utilizes a variety of assessment strategies, both formative and summative.
Feedback to students is informative, encouraging and constructive. Laura uses different motivational
strategies to engage students and takes into account various learning styles in the selection of
classroom materials. Laura employs verbal and non-verbal redirection as needed and uses proximity
strategically. She is aware of off-task behaviour and reacts quickly and positively. Student issues and
questions are handled professionally. Laura is flexible and patient and promotes a positive inclusive
learning environment.

her class. Under the direction of her Associate Teacher, she has created a safe, secure, and caring
atmosphere where students are treated with dignity, respect and appreciation of ability and interest
levels. Laura demonstrates and enforces inclusive and respectful language, behaviour and attitudes.
She expects respect and promotes fairness. Laura also consistently demonstrates a clear
understanding of expectations, rights and responsibilities. Laura celebrates the progress and
