About VIT VIT University, one of the premier institutes in Tamil Nadu, was established in 1984. It is a major, comprehensive, student-centered research University dedicated to excellence in teaching, research and service. The University was established with the aim of providing quality higher education at par with international standards. Mission of VIT is to educate students from all over India, including those from the local and rural areas, and from other countries, so they become enlightened individuals, improving the living standards of their families, industries and society. VIT will provide individual attention, world-class quality education and take care of character building. It provides an exchange of students and faculty, to encourage joint research projects for the mutual benefit of these Universities. VIT University obtained the highest possible grade of "A" from NAAC for all the programs offered by the University during the re-accreditation process in January 2009. About SCSE History of computing discipline at VIT University dates back to 1993, when the Department of Computer Science & Engineering was established to meet the demand for well-qualified computer professionals. The School of Computing Science and Engineering (SCSE) was conceived in the year 2009. At present, the School has more than 5000 students and around 120 core faculty members apart from many visiting professors and eminent researchers from different parts of the world. Objective of the Workshop Mathematics is the backbone for any field of Engineering and is true for computer science and information technology too. Different concepts in Mathematics are applied to solve varieties of problems that a computer science engineer can come-up with. In this workshop, we teach some mathematical concepts that are frequently used to solve practical problems in computer science and information technology. Topics Covered 1. Numerical and Statistical Methods 2. Logic and Program Verification 3. Intelligent Computing (Fuzzy and Rough Sets, etc.) 4. Security Models 5. Game theory 6. Grammar models 7. Supervised Learning Methods Other topics like Dynamic Programming shall be considered if time permits. Target Audience Post graduate students, Research Scholars and Faculties who study / teach computer science/ information technology. A maximum of 60 participants can register on first come first served. Resource Persons Lectures will be delivered by faculties from premier academic institutions like IITs, IMSc, CMI, IISc and VIT. Accommodation at VIT Accommodation can be provided for outstation participants in our University hostel (shared room) on payment basis for Rs.250/- per day. Registration Fee Students and Research Scholars: Rs. 1000/Faculty members: Rs. 1500/Industry persons : Rs. 2500/Grants For deserving participants, second class sleeper train fare/shortest bus route charges and/or accommodation charges in hostel shall be supported.
