Douglas House by Richard Meier Plans

Richard Meier designed the Douglas House in Harbor Springs, Michigan in 1975. The three-level house is situated on Lake Michigan and is adapted to the natural site and environment. It features a combination of thick bearing walls, columns, wood, steel, concrete and glass. The house divides private and public spaces with an extroverted public facade and introverted private interior. Natural light illuminates the open floor plan and circulation between levels.

White is the most wonderful color

because within it you can see all the
colors of the rainbow. The whiteness
of white is never just white; it is almost
always transformed by light and that
which is changing; the sky, the clouds,
the sun and the moon.!
